With how confusing sumeru is, all i am certain of is that sumeru's diverse yet hostile environment is both its greatest asset and biggest drawback imo: it stands out for its nature/deserts + wildlife as a backbone of sumeru's identity for all sorts of research regarding biodiversity and past histories as a lot of past relics were left behind in both rainforest and deserts... But said wildlife and hostile environment is a massive drawback when it comes to traveller convenience and overall safety compared to other regions -- though with how unguarded sumeru's cities are (as seen in a previous video) and as the nation of dendro it makes even more sense for the region to be naturally hostile and left as it is to ward off a lot of ppl who might want to do illwill while traversing in sumeru before they can get into civilization. Not to mention the wildlife, natural biomes, diversity of fungi/creatures/beasts all around IS the nation's icons and defensive measures to keep ppl in line... And since sumeru's akademiya has the amurta (biology) and other darshans study many things on the field it makes even more sense for the residents/researchers of sumeru to just adapt, preserve and go with the flow with its own risks even if it may come at the people's expense; tighnari's and al haitham, quests to an extent has shown the npcs getting into tragic or deadly situations not only from their own academic dilemmas, study goals, circumstances and reasons but you can kind of pick up moments where the npcs get in trouble or disregard their safety for their own goals in sumeru's hostile areas. The forest watchers and core of 30 are in DIRE need of stepping up in numbers for now... Lets hope with Nahida now taking charge more intellectual pursuits are also to help aid the ppl including the betterment of travel safety and overall security

On the plus side, once you get there, the Stadium of the Sacred Flame is definitely the best-defended "main city" in Genshin as of this point. It's on a plateau that drops steeply into a saurian-infested river valley (which is an advantage for native Natlan folks, who are used to them), it has multiple entrances that could be destroyed if necessary while leaving others open (as it's quite hard to surround and, assuming the Collective of Plenty is over to the west, it guards the route to Natlan's agricultural heartland), it's regularly filled with Natlan's most powerful warriors who are just waiting for an opportunity to fight (and also you might not be able to permanently kill them), its facilities are actually indoors for once, and also Mavuika lives there and actually does her job as Archon so in the PURELY HYPOTHETICAL event that some incredibly dangerous threat rolls in, she's available to deal with it. EDIT: Also I forgot they have hot air balloons, so even if besieged they can probably get supplies in and out. You could say "just shoot the balloons down," but the giant river valley means you can't get super close to the Stadium to get a good shot.

@FlyingNinjaishАй бұрын
Sure, assuming you ignore virtually everything about Fontaine.
@UryvichkАй бұрын
@@FlyingNinjaish I would say the Stadium is almost as difficult to reach as the plateau of Fontaine, at least for a whole army. There are really only two approaches that make sense given the map we have now: 1) Arrive at the eastern coast, turn south after the first waypoint and follow the valley until you can go west to skirt south of the Children of Echoes' village , cross Tepeacac Rise into the lowlands, and follow that road all the way to the Stadium. Unless you actually attack the Children of Echoes, they'll be able to attack you from the back as you try this, and presumably the Flower-Feather clan is the Natlan Air Force, so they have free reign to assault you from the air in the lowlands. The Scions are also at your back as you approach the Stadium, and it's not easy to actually get to them. 2) Arrive at the coastline of Toyac Springs, advance northwest through Ameyalco Waters, and cross down from the plateau into the lowlands near the Stadium. This is arguably worse, because you have to cross a bunch of water unless you first attack the People of the Springs (which admittedly if conquered would give you a nice convenient road), and then even when you get there the only route north is a tiny and incredibly tight mountain pass that crosses over a deep river chasm with an easily-destroyed bridge. And as soon as you're out of there, the Scions are behind you. There's basically no way to attack Natlan as the map is right now without either committing to attacking one of the tribal villages (which allows time for the other tribes to reinforce it), or going around them and dealing with hostile terrain and enemies at your flank or rear. For Fontaine, as long as you can actually get up to the plateau, there really isn't a whole lot stopping you from besieging the Court of Fontaine. Basically Fontaine banks everything on the plateau being inaccessible, while Natlan has hostile terrain that is nevertheless highly advantageous to the native defenders and a distributed federation model that allows one group to assist the other unless they're systematically eliminated one after another, and especially with the Scions I'm just not sure that's possible without exposing your troops to attacks from the Stadium (or vice-versa).

To be fair for some of the more 'normal' things like Treasure hoarders/bandnits, Hoyo has established that in general, adventurers are hired as protection, Mondstadt knights patrol the roads and the Millileth guard the roads. There are also bodyguard...agencies? like the one Gaming works for ("Sword and Strongbox Secure Transport Agency") Once you get to Sumeru and its questionable roads, in the jungle, the Forest Rangers are both guides and patrol for lost people and the more dangerous threats. Once you get to Carvan Ribat, that's where you hang around trying to hire an Eremite group who will act as guides/guards to the place in the desert you want to get to. For what's not on the map, I feel like it's safe to say Fontaine will have a major escalator port on the north west and north east ends. The...estuary??? between Natlan and Sumeru goes by the Barireh Lajavar area, and if you go to the waypoint just south of the boss and go west, you can see that it does connect to Fontaine's inland sea*. There is a possibility that small area between the Scions of the Canopy's coastline and Sumeru has an all-tribes port (I am mystified that they didn't give the Springs a port, since the hot springs are so famous is one of the few things we knew about Natlan before going into it because of 2.0's Inazuma faux-hotsprings). * From here, you can see the Flower-Feather clan looks very close to or on the coast, and they have hot air balloons. So I'm guessing they're the major entrance to Natlan.

We just solve the problem faster than its fate and also safely too. Why it seems we (the Traveler) is the most competent one? B/c we have the power to do so. The quest given by Adventurer Guild to us is mostly a deadlock one, and after we do it, you know whats the problem? Yes, mostly Abyss influence. And what happen after regular human exposes by Abyssal stuff? Yes, corrupted (possibly lead to death). There's Vision holder, but they can only do so much until the Abyss stuff get intense. Vision can only protect from its exposure after all, not complete resistance Traveler in term of strength is in the above middle ground. Stronger than any guard, army, mercenary, and even casual vision holder. But not stronger than the strongest out there. Traveler massive gimmick is wielded any element w/o Vision and super resistance against any Abyssal influence. And that is massive advantage to 80-90% problem in Teyvat. it's not like the respective characters or NPC don't want to solve it, rather they can't, b/c they don't possess something like we do. The best they can do is to hold it. This is i think good example, Aranara, they say the forest need help, and it's not the first time it happens. You know who solve it in the past? My personal theory on the route atm is that the water next to Port Ormos goes around the sumeru desert from the south, and reach the waters of the people of the springs. The people of the springs didn't build a damn port for the tourist ships, but there are plenty of tourist islands around the world that can't get large boats close to the shores (due to either shallow waters, or budget), so the boat moves the tourists to smaller boats that then offload the tourists to land. If that's the case, then frankly the route to get there is not that impossible. mond to liyue harbor, then a pit stop at sumeru's port ormos (no shot these two bodies of water aren't connected), and then the assumed path between ormos to people of the springs. While this is a fairly serviceable tourist route, it would be absolute trash when it comes to transferring goods, they should really just build the damn port...

But as we can see, until Nahida assumes control the entire foundation of ruling Held by the akademiya itself has gone corrupt internally for a LONG while that causes a lot of internal struggle (the npcs dialogues in sumeru has hinted some of this). I mean, lots of the ppl with intellect and goals in sumeru's akademiya like azar the grand sage then would rather make a new god for the sake of "wisdom" ultimate enlightment in story instead of say, studying to improve safety or finding ways to help the community (and dont remind me of azar and sects of the akademiya looking down on the arts. travel and exploration in most fantasy settings generally aren't safe for regular civilians; and how they travel safely from point A to point B is to usually just hire strong adventurers as bodyguards. that or cities hiring strong adventurers to clear monsters and nearby nests along those paths. that said, no wonder why that the adventurers guild is popular.

I mean, Liben does kinda have to go back and forth, so I'm assuming he has either a boat, or he's got a really good trade route.

I've been wondering for years how Teyvat's routes work and you really tickle my brain with these videos

I like your videos. They're cute, they're informative, they give us Teyvat's adventurers good insights that normally we're just too busy treasure hunting to even notice. Very noice. =w=b

since u cant really go through the chasm id say people would probably just take a boat from the harbor to port omos then go to natlan

Teyvat seriously needs aviation to be invented

What amazes me is how no NPC ever notices at a teleport waypoint. Like they can't use it, yet it takes up prime space in most of the cities centres. Nobody has ever thought of breaking these waypoints.

To the natives, they are just random ruins. Only the Traveler is aware of what they truly are.

I think you have forgotten that gliders exist so like, long drop offs really arent that much of an issue for most people. As for the accessibility of the gliders, we know people in Mondstadt need a liscense to use them so I think thats enough evidence to say they arent some secretive technology only the mc gets
@SusyBaca96Ай бұрын
Theres a land route north of the chasm there's literally caravans walking the paths

Maybe just maybe after the archon quests in Natlan the nation will open up people will be aloud to leave and they will build a port lol. I mean they have to allow there ppl out without some kinda curse eventually cause we will have Natlan characters in our parties and make it make sense lore wise.

About the chasm problem between Liyue and Sumeru, why not just head to Sumeru by boat from Dorman Port or hitch a ride with Captain Beidou in Liyue? There are ports in Sumeru.

I wonder what type of enemies the average npc can defeat. If people are traveling across these unsafe and unregulated lands they must at least have the ability to defeat one of them.
@commentingchannel9776Ай бұрын
I believe many enemies would simply not attack, whether it be some completely undisturbed Hilichurls, Eremites who might at worst ask for a "protection fee", Natlan warriors who are simply minding their business and so on. One would think the NPCs make routes that avoid enemies like the Treasure Hoarders or the Fatui, and that most are able to defend themselves against Hilichurls, Slimes, Fungi and the like at the very least.
@SinyaoАй бұрын
In Sumeru we watched some Forest Rangers without visions fighting fungus and stuff. So feasibly, maybe if people in general are a bit hardier than in our society, they could get by with bribes or not provoking humans, using food to distract animals, taking out the occasional small fry, and giving hilichurls a respectable distance. You wouldn't even need to worry about the Fatui, really, they don't care about random people in most cases.

There's a npc in mondstadt that wanted to travel to Liyue... She couldn't defend herself and almost die by some slimes
@fbiuzzАй бұрын
The gameplay exaggerates the dangers since it would pretty boring for the player to travel long distances without fighting.

Ok! So I came up with the idea. How about general population census? Each for every country/land, count'em npc's (only the regular non hostile citizens)
