What is the value of Christian higher education? Should Christians consider it? -Podcast Episode 170

Should Christians consider higher education? Are Bible college and/or seminary only for those going into full-time Christian ministry? Are there any potential dangers of Christian higher education, and if so, how can they be avoided?

Great discussion I have an MAR, MDiv, MTh and after years of trying to get a job in ministry I gave up and now work for the gov't. So, whenever I hear churches complain about the lack of qualified workers, I roll my eyes. I don't mind anyone going to college for anything, I went cause God called me to do so and to be able to be qualified to call out Bob's your uncle ordained priest, ministers, ect coming up with their own stuff and legalism. Ref Paul vs Peter at Antioch. If I was ordained, I wouldn’t be able to reach the people I have because I had to meet people where they are which would soil reputations in the eyes of the 3rd parties but Paul’s goal was to let nothing become an obstacle to someone coming to Christ or at least meeting Him.

I'm glad you found your niche! God often surprises us with vocations that are different than what we plan. Just a thought, you might improve your grammar and delivery if you want to reach those who have a higher level of education. I struggled to read your comment! ❤

It is critical that kids be well-grounded in the Bible and taught to think, reason and question before they go into higher education, either secular or Christian. We've been associated with a Christian university in Oregon for 25 years and have grown so disillusioned by seeing many liberals and even nonbelievers as professors shaping the minds of young adults. All Christian students should approach higher education as a diplomat and a missionary wearing the armor of God and "ready to give an answer to anyone who asks." BTW, thank you so much for Got Questions! It's my first go-to when questions arise and I want answers I can trust.

Which is a problem with many Christian’s is they don’t like questions, hopefully we can start breaking that trend
