The way to set the height of the guide is to put the chain in the biggest cog and make sure it doesn't drag in the guide. I learned this the hard way when I heard my chain dragging in low gear.

They are spaces to help you align the guide with your chain line.

So how's it holding up? Do you have a derailleur with a clutch?
@underbikedoverconfident11423 жыл бұрын
Great, no I currently have a Deore 9 speed non clutch. I uploaded a video a few weeks back with on-board footage if you want to see it in action.

is it compatible with press fit?
@underbikedoverconfident1142 Жыл бұрын
I would say no because it's the cup you screw into the frame that holds the chain guide in place. I've never had a press fit bottom bracket but I can't see how it would work.

flawed design, a better solution would be to have one bolt and the part that slides up and down be the part the bolt goes into. then you have only one bolt and it's easy to access. I've Absolute black Bash guide.

Yes but as with all these things things you cannot except much for five euros. When you compare that to 100 plus euros of most chain guards.

@@underbikedoverconfident1142 for oval chainring, this bashguide is the only choice unless you og for 77designz which designed the guide they use. Cus it's the only guide that goes down enough for an oval chainring.

hi.. a newbie question, does this replace a clutch?
@underbikedoverconfident11423 жыл бұрын
Note quite a clutch reduces chain movement and therefore reduces noise and reduces chain drop on 1x systems. This chain guide will stop your chain falling off but will not reduce noise or chain movement.

Great explanation! Has the chain guard served you well up until now? I'm going to take a stab at buying one and hope it's wide enough for my 7 speed chain. Looks like there's plenty of room for it.
@underbikedoverconfident11423 жыл бұрын
So far its actually been great. Saved my chain dropping a few times in the passed couple of weeks alone. The gap for the chain shouldn't be a problem. I'd say the distance from your BB to your chainring may be a problem.

3:49 you installed it too far back, the guide should be centred. you have it too far back.

Interesting I just put it where a front derailleur would be. Is there a reason for this?
@mtbboy19933 жыл бұрын
@@underbikedoverconfident1142 by having it centred it does a better job, the chain can't come underneath the guide and force it self thru, but also with oval chainring you need that for sure cus then the chainring does not get covered by the guide, but this guide is not made for oval anyway.
