What Is This Sport?! Crazy Swimrun Event In Barefoot Shoes

I hadn't planned on doing any more races this half of the year, but when Vivo Barefoot asked if I wanted to race Ötillö, I said YES! And then... 'what on earth is that?'. This is my first time swimming in open water, first time cold water swimming without a full length wetsuit and first time long distance running in barefoot shoes... and all of them were amazing!

Braaavo 🎉 With all this EBV stuff going on (I know what a long recovery it is,I have it too) it's so nice to see you enjoying youself. And thanks for posting about EBV too, it makes a huge difference. Many run, many vlogs are about running, being all super and high. But this is reality and although not always beautiful it's in fact beautiful because it's real and raw. And showing it can be done. It was epic! The shoes were brilliant, I wouldn’t do this event in anything else now, unless I was running really far. Hopefully I’ll go again next year! No wetsuit chafe, i didn’t think about it once! Super comfy 😍

Congrats!! What a beautiful, cool sport/ experience! Trying new things really is the spice of life- and like you said, not being utterly shocking at it is just the cherry on top! I'm a trail runner who isn't much of a swimmer... this seems a MUCH more accessible than triathlons, with bikes and changing, etc. (No hate to triathletes!) It would be amazing to see you try other outdoor sports, too!

Fabulous! And well done on the result Flora. Sadly, cannot see this event catching on in the UK anytime soon, especially in the estuaries and off the shores of the south coast, given the current state of our sewerage arrangements.
