The KZbin algorithm finally gave me something useful. I was looking up a nail gun and it was gonna run me around $300 (Canadian). I just need it for small jobs like a loose baseboard. This is perfect. Thank you!

I used one to secure baseboard trim behind a cast iron radiator. Perfect for that job. That was 20 years ago. The staff at Home Depot didn’t know what I was asking for. Eventually some old guy working there knew about it and found one in stock. A very handy little tool when the situation calls for it.

Brads are also sold in regular boxes like nails. That's the way they all were before the collated brad nailer was invented.

I used a brad driver for the first time 30 years ago when I worked doing historic restoration carpentry. Best tool to have for installing grilles on custom windows. I haven’t seen one of these in a neighborhood hardware store since the mid ‘90s, though!

fixing the tongue and groove in my 1925 bungalow, they used tiny brads, you can barely detect them under the urethane. As I try to hammer in brads which doesn't work obviously, I started thinking "hey, these guys didn't have finishing nail guns back then that I'm aware of, how did they hammer these in?"

I tried this over the weekend to replace some door casing. It worked pretty well. I was not successful with longer brads (1-1/4" and 1-1/2") but I had about a .750 batting average with 1" brads. It's difficult to use from awkward angles, but if you're patient, it's a good alternative to a nailer.

This is great! I did not want to have to do like you said and buy an expensive nail gun or compressor just a nail and a few pieces of trim I have to do during my remodel. This tools exactly what I will need. I was trying to figure out how to nail something so small and delicate by hand (mind-blowingly easy to use)!

maybe I got a dud but when I got this tool it did not work to get a brad nail in more that 1/16" into the wood. maybe its because it was plywood and to strong though

that´s one tool I didn´t know I need and now I know I don´t need. because I have a special tool, actually like ten of them, that can do a lot of things including nailing a nail. or a brad as a matter of fact. it´s called a hammer, it costs roughly the same but like finding a second hand one for free or for a buck is incomparably easier. best part, you don´t need brads either, you can do the same job with nails. I lived in an illusion that brads are invented specifically in place of nails for nailguns. and nailguns are invented specifically in place of hammers to cut on time, not money. so if you don´t have money, why waste 10 bucks on a brad pusher if you can use the hammer you already got because you wanna have it for a million reasons anyways? it looks really smooth pushing it with one easy push but that´s some really soft and thin materials you drive them into. be a bit handy and you can do that with a hammer too. how about the whole length of the brad into a nice thick hardwood piece?

Does Paslode still exist? It's a strip-nailer that uses refined gasoline and a battery powered sparkplug instead of compressed air to drive 18guage finish nails up to 2inches without need of a compressor or heavy batteries.

Now I gotta go to the store and git one. 🤦 I just wondered what it was. 🤷 I do question the glue holding the brads together being double duty to glue the brad in place in the wood. I just don't see that happening except for being oversized. But maybe using a nail gun the friction created heats up the glue and thus holds it in place. Yeah maybe🤷

They're more for keeping the brads together in a line so they are a ribbon can be easily inserted, but for sure, you never know - I don't believe the glue actually melts in either case, but you could heat it up slightly before inserting it with a heat gun, hair dryer, or even carefully using a lighter at a distance - the friction will come as the brad is forced into the wood regardless - as far as I understand the glue that holds the brads in a ribbon has a very small effect, if any in the end, that's why it's good to use some wood glue too if you're serious about what you're doing, but you might be on to something there, and when I get a chance I will go out and test it myself. Let me know here if you do your own test, I think we'd all like to know if it it makes a difference or not, I don't have a brad pusher anymore, but it would be a good video where someone tests various methods - wood glue + nailgun, wood glue + bradpusher, no glue + nailgun, no glue + brad pusher. I would expect the applications with wood glue plus brads to work together, but I am curious if the nailgun is more effective overall.

So I was about 5/6 of the way through my current job and my brad pusher snapped in half and I am furious. I have tried hammer about 6 nails into this thing and they all just bent

No such thing as a stupid question. I wouldn't recommend using a pin now, as the tolerance of the sleeve size and the inner pushrod size isn't that great, the pin might get stuck between the two.

I would consider a nail set to be a small punch used to recess the head of a nail into the wood. This tool is used to press (push) a small nail (brad) into the wood.

I am installing Alluminum soffits-vent covers. I need to Drive nails through the Alluminum, but the vent is almost against the wall which doesn't leave much space to hold nail and swing hammer. Can I use the brad pusher to hold brad nail in place and use a hammer to hit the brad-nailer handle to drive the brad with sufficient force to nail through the Alluminum?
