This was another excellent fossil hunting trip with a bunch of friends. Derek invited us all down to hunt a creek location he found a while back that has a very unusual fauna of marine vertebrates from an unusual time period. This creek has a bunch of fossils in it that I have never found before, and may even have some scientific importance as well. We also found something very odd in the creek. Papers wrapped up and tied together with a strange repeating message over and over.

The flowers are Alpinia zerumbet, or shell ginger. You actually do see them all the time living in florida. Leaves are often variegated. The flowers are often hidden beneath. Seriously, look around foundations of commercial buildings like banks and doctor offices.

The paper is an "amarre" made by a woman who thinks Roberto is drifting away from her. It was probably made by herself, a "profesional" one would have been different. It is part of a ritual which should include very personal things and elements that are unique and particular to the persons involved, if there was such elements they were lost so probably the amarre won't be or wasn't as effective as she expected or wished (poor girl). It's written in an affirmative tone, as an statement of a present reality, not as a wish but as a fact and every iteration is numbered because the petition has to be repeated a certain number of times. She thanks God and not "someone" else which is, in some way, good.. sometimes this kind of requests are addressed to some other entities as it is the case in santería, a paper with an amarre that was tossed into or near the water, if it was a santería "work" would have been adressed to Yemayá (which by the way is a nice, kind and maternal goddess) and not to God and if it was a Palero work wold have been addressed to much worse things and wouldn't be in the water but sourranded by ashes, rocks, bones and blood... Anyway guys, whether you believe in this things or not these are not things to mess around, next time do as you did with the teddy bear... just leave it alone and let it be there where you found it. Greetings from Venezuela

That scroll is a spell, the person they are writing is actually NOT with them but it is supposed to be a spell to make them come together, like a LOVE SPELL but items like this are anathema to the ordinary order of Most religions, there are a few where this is used one of them is Voodoo another is Wicca, there are more but I'm not sure which ones actually believe in Magic.

The scroll is a vodoo spell of sorts. Sanitaria also do this. The Vodoo priest will have someone write their wishes on a scroll and tell them to bury it or throw it in the water. Many years ago I was visiting New Orleans. I was metal detecting and found one in a jar with a metal lid. It had a piece of paper wrapped in a silk scarf. It was written much the same way over and over again. As I unwrapped the scarf there were 7 coins from the Caribbean. I put it back.

I was watching you find Agates in KY. What you were finding were Indian sculpture. If you pay attention to detail you will find evidence of carving. They are story rocks and have a great amount of fine art completely covering most pieces. Some are not finished. The finished sculptures have directional artwork that is best viewed by firelight or around sunset. The multiple holes are eyes and many are drilled to a deeper layer for the color change or the crystal reflection. It is better known as Portable Rock Art.

I really envy your knowledge of fossil beds in the South...my parents lived in FL for thirty years after they retired, and I had no idea. I've always loved fossils and rocks and minerals. I wish I had known there was such fossiliferous plenty near me when I visited with my parents, and I was 35-40 years younger. I'm 65 now and have some mild health problems that prevent me from walking far. Do you or any of your commenters know of those places where geode nodules just fall out of the banks of creeks? I think there are some in S. Indiana and Kentucky that are within range, and I can still wade up a creek. Thanks! Have a good day, all y'all.

2:01 Awapuhi Ginger. The flowers can be crushed and used for incredibly great smelling bush shampoo!
@redeyestones3738
@redeyestones3738 3 жыл бұрын
That is ginger, but not awapuhi. There are several different kinds of ginger. The one in the video is called shell ginger. Awapuhi rarely grows over 3 feet tall, and the flowers are separate from the rest of the plant. The flower pops out of the ground on its own, and grows underneath the foliage. As far as I know, Hawaii is the only place awapuhi grows wild. It is farmed in other places as well, but only endemic to Hawaii. The flowers can be squeezed for their juice. You can use the juice as shampoo, or skin soap. It leaves hair and skin incredibly soft, smooth, and smelling fresh.

I believe the scroll is part of a practice of "manifesting" things to happen. You basically say one thing to yourself over and over again until it happens. It's thought that by repeating it to yourself/subconscious your mind/the universe will make it happen.

They're positive affirmations. They write them as if something has already happened rather than praying to the universe or pleading. Some new age spiritual practice. This person was affirming that the guy he or she wanted was already united with them to make it happen. They then throw the affirmations into the sea or a river so they reach the universe. I did self transformation workshops back in the 80s and learnt all this stuff but gave it all up when the teacher started to seduce some of the attendees - he'd choose one out of each course he ran. Lucky not me!!

The letter is a spell. Frowned upon in a lot of religions to name the person as it interferes with free will. Generally you'd ask the universe to find your perfect other half without names. The fact it hasn't rotted means it hasn't been accepted. Just in case anyone gets ideas, it's not a good to force love.
