Hello & welcome along on this walk! If you're new here - my name is Sarah and each week I head out on a walk with my faithful companion Jack Spaniels, to explore somewhere in this beautiful country of Scotland and hopefully find something to paint back in my studio at home.
Today we are climbing North Berwick Law - a small but striking hill that dominates the landscape for miles around. It stands above the seaside town of North Berwick - voted the best place to live in Scotland in 2021!
We escape the Scottish heatwave by climbing the hill in the evening sunshine and explore the historic structures on the summit of the hill - a Napoleonic signal station, a 300 year old whalebone arch and a WW2 bunker. Plus we get gorgeous panoramic views from the top - the perfect backdrop for Jack to strike a pose in front of...
The summer flowers have mostly gone over to seed now, but there's plenty of signs of life to photograph and paint. As the summer starts to wane, hedgerows are coming alive with signs of autumn and berries are ripening. The varied colours of the bramble as it ripens were the perfect choice for a painting.
If you enjoyed this video and you haven't already, please check out my other videos - including the three special Skye episodes, where we explore some incredible Scottish scenery. Join me again next week as we explore somewhere else in Scotland and look for painting inspiration...
