Doug Polk Poker

Күн бұрын

I don't even know what to say about this one. I'm just flabbergasted. This is a $700,000 pot where neither player can beat 9-high. This one comes from a high stakes poker cash game on the Triton high roller series in Madrid. In unrelated news, I'm taking a spontaneous vacation to the next Triton series. See you guys when I get back.
No but seriously I'm at the Lodge right now in a $100,000 heads up battle against Bill Perkins. Watch it here: • $100K HEADS-UP SHOWDOW...

Your analysis is pretty solid. But, you fail to acknowledge one serious factor of a live game; table dynamics. At this point, this game was pure "Street poker". You have Tony G on lockdown with a w, the five seat playing tight, and Tom Dwan splashing around with rotating rich action players. Phua in the game speaks for itself, and Rui was playing like an absolute man possessed. I think Tom picked a good spot (all things considered), Rui was just going insane by this point

There's absolutely no other reads Rui can have here on this hands considering he's only calling on the turn. Had he thought he was behind he'd bluff-jam the turn and not only call. This would've been the best poker read hand ever if Dwan had jammed the river and Rui would've called. It'd be the greatest moment of poker reads in history. Wow, if he would have put everything together and said i think you have 7 2..this will either be the greatest call of all time or the biggest punt.. Call 8 high! Would have been greatest moment in poker history 💯

Old video, they speak all day about 72 and Rui Cao knows Dwan has that hand. Many people will fold at the flop but not him. He is one of the most dangerous cash game player I have ever seen.

dangerous? no. reckless - yes. they're also playing the 7 2 game which is the olny reason Rui makes the call.

@@RogueStatusX lmao have you ever played on full tilt poker, Rui was one of the greatest high stake crusher on that site. then he invested in businesses and is now a successful business owner and poker player. no reckless player can make it in the high stake and continuously crushing it. It is called read.

Tom is doing what Tom does. He's making sure his reputation for unpredictable actions continues to be well known and his fearless approach is dangerous and perhaps you should fold because he usually smokes your butt that one time you decide to play back at him. Great deceptive poker mind and player. Tom is the only player I would have a genuine fear of playing against. He always has that stone, paralyzed face, doesn't matter if a large drop of drewel drops to the felt look and deliberate slow yet intentionally smooth, pause just before he drops the chips hand motion when grabbing chips and placing a bet are intimidating to say the least. That OMG look that deceptively makes you think he's gambling and uncertain look he has on his face is the most recognized actions at any poker table. The ability to present you with that I know something you don't look is sincere and appears to be well thought out when it's just his method whether he has it or not. Scary stuff.. And then he breaks character when his opponent goes all in. The door closes. 😂

The best player i ever knew had a saying " the KEY to poker is aggression, the SECRET to poker is folding ". I don't know how true that is but i never forgot it. On the one hand tom showed the KEY by being aggressive but on the other hand rui didn't show the SECRET by folding., On the whole I'd say that in this hand the saying holds up but tom should have just called the flop , now assume tom has at least Q or hell even Ax, how much would he bet the turn? After all rui seems to be calling everything, I'd bet $200,000, if rui calls then im shoving, i know it's foolish but i got myself in this mess and I'm riding it out, however I wouldn't have acted like tom, he was way to eager, standing up and asking how much rui has left etc. I would have just made sure that rui saw me looking at his stack.

I thought rui had more behind so yeah i agree with doug, either shove the turn or bet smaller.

I think it matters quite a bit how large the 72o bounty is. I believe it might be as ridiculous as 70k in this case (10k each)...
