Could have been stamped from a planchet sheet that was rolled too thin. I had a similar situation concerning a 1/2 doller. They're supposed to weigh 11.3 grams. Mine weighed 10.2

I found a 1974D last night that weighs 3.27g, which is well over the normal 3.1g for copper.

I weighed 5 of mine they all weigh 3.04 gr..the chart says they're supposed to weigh 2.8 grams so l don't know what's up ..

That’s a rare specimen. This penny has historical value. In 1982 the weight of the penny (as well as the minerals used) from 3.1g of copped, 2.5g 95% zinc and 5% copper plated. So, finding a penny after 1982, that weighs 2.5 is ultimately the rarest penny there is because no pennies production wait around that time we’re making 2.5 wheat pennies unless it is a thin copper penny. In which case I would have no idea.

That happened to me before too and it was eBay that stole it from me. I don't know about you but I wouldn't trust eBay as far as I could spit. One guy about 4 years ago decided he liked my 1969 double die quarter and he caused me so much problem with that quarter somebody was going to buy it for right around $6,000 and he kept messing with the ad and then claimed that I sold it and got the money for it and never paid eBay and then they shut down my eBay account because they said I never paid the seller's fee I never even sold the quarter but I went through that with them for like a year and then I just got so pissed off I just shut my account down I'm waiting for him to come and try to do something cuz I'm going to sue the piss out of them. I'm serious and I don't have anything against eBay in general but whoever that guy was that did that to me I have a feeling that he really wanted that rare quarter you don't find too many 1969 double die obverse and reverse quarters and man he really screwed my life up. I probably lost close to I would say $350,000 since they messed up my eBay​@@jaymartell2967

I'm just curious if that were to happen to you can you tell me how you would go about trying to make eBay pay or tell the truth or whatever just to even find out why they did something like that how would you go about it do you have any opinions please? And thank you very much for reading this I don't feel very well I didn't even think I was going to get into making a statement like this cuz it just makes me depressed to think what happened to me and it's been like oh gosh a year and a half maybe 2 years now and I've never even went back on eBay because I was so upset

I was just cherious because I never knew if you desided you were needing a new car or anything else and desided to sell that is off weight penny or not, did you, im very cherious because that one may have been the experience test penny, that was one of the years they were were experiencing with different metals because they wanted to not waste so much copper. I sort of figured if it was the right one you probably made somewhere around 20 225,000 for it because it looked like it was in a pretty good, is there any way you can comment on my to you that way I could see it? Because I think the way that this works as if I comment to you and you comment back it'll automatically go to my mailbox and I'll be able to see that you have commented cuz I really am curious and you're beautiful anyways and I love your talent I love looking for coins too

I never did get it checked out. It would be my luck that it's only worth a penny. Maybe, one day I will find where I put it, and can find some kind of expert to look at it. But where I live, there aren't any real experts on this kind of stuff. Thank you for your nice comments. That was so sweet of you to say.

@@odetomy 1974 was also the the year of the aluminum penny that is supposed to be turned back in to government very valuable but yet government finds out it's supposed to go back to them but I'm not sure on weight

@@coinstigerfernandez5133 That's what I had heard. Luckily, though, an aluminum penny only weighs around 0.937 grams. So, my penny is in the clear from being confiscated by the FEDs. lol.

I found out that if it was aluminum, it would have weighed a lot less. So, I'm thinking it was just a thinner sheet of copper that they accidently used. Maybe?
