Upanishads says clearly that Observer observed and observing are all same not different. The feeling of them being different from each other is the maya. When that understanding dawns upon, only silence remains and in that silence the truth shines on its own.

"Upanishads says clearly that Observer observed and observing are all same not different.. The feeling of them being different from each other is the maya." There is a fundamental problem with what you are saying here. "I am witnessing the thought. Mind is watching my wind (Observer and observed)." If you think (or feeling as you put it) they are the same, then that is also a thought. At 5:00. BYK actually explains it well. THREE important POINTS: Observer (you with many contents in your mind that creates falseness of the world), observed (object) and pure consciousness (beyond mind, no attributes of any kind. Since it is beyond mind, you cannot even think of it). Through intense practice, when you realize that both the observer and the observed do not exist, then there is only silent witness (pure consciousness). They call this pure Atman or Brahman. (non-dual because there is no real difference between Atman and Brahman). When the observer and observed disappear, the world as you know disappears. All mind contents, thoughts, images, memory, perception etc etc gone. Only the pure consciousness remains. In this state, there is no judgement of any kind, no perception of any kind and no hearing or any sensation etc etc. Just SILENCE. Now the important question is, "Is there such a thing as pure Consciousness?" Nobody in the past has ever either tried to answer that question or remained SILENT (Ramana Maharshi). Some say it is pure fiction and some say you have to experience it. If you somehow train your mind to reach a state where you lose the sense of 'Self' in which there is a sense of disappearance of the observer and observed, one may think that they have experienced pure consciousness. There is no way a subjective experience can be empirically tested. There is no proof for this Silent Witness. At best we can call this an untested hypothesis. It is metaphysics. According to strict adherents of this philosophy, one is not even supposed to say "I have experienced it or I am enlightened" because that would negate their assertion, as they are using their memory to make that statement. In other words, it is an experience (a mind thing) that they have. If it is an experience, your mind and memory are involved and that means there was no disappearance of the observer and observed in those who claimed to be enlightened. Simply put, you cannot say "I experienced enlightenment, he experienced it, he told me he did, I felt one with the universe, I experienced Brahman, I felt it briefly, I experienced it briefly, I experience oneness several times a day etc." If you recall that 'thing' then it is memory. If it is in your memory (mind), you experienced it. YOU DO NOT EXPERIENCE such a thing. Supposedly, you only realize pure consciousness when the observer and the observed disappear. In that state, your mind is absent. Therefore, whatever that experience you had cannot be a part of your mind. You will not be able to recall it. If you recall it with pride and some excitement, then you are fooling yourself and others. Everything emanates from the pure Consciousness, and it is infinite (it is everything). Falseness (primitive mind, preconditioning, and Whatsapp university) makes us believe that we are separate or that Jiv Atman is separate from Pure Consciousness or Brahman. Pure consciousness (Brahman) is the Subject, and your mind is the object in this case. An object can never know a subject. This also means that NOBODY can know this Brahman or NOBODY is truly enlightened ever.

The very essence (if we can even say that!) of the absolute reality seems to be (to us individual minds having mostly a canonical/linear view) paradoxical, only because it's beyond mind, beyond knowledge, and beyond knowing itself. Yes it's beyond even 'knowing', so the very common epistemological approach (e.g. reductionism/pragmatism) isn't going to work here, simply because the very source of knowledge, where knowledge and knowing come from cannot itself be known, logic 101. Hence, the absolute reality always remains ineffable and beyond language. It's that pointless point which is at the same time fully transcendent from all phenomenons, and yet immanent in all such phenomenons. Even Sat Cit Ananda isn't enough, or sufficient to even get close to the very nature of The One. Beyond numbers, beyond knowledge, beyond being and non-being, and beyond imagination, there is a no-thingness that contains, and manifests as all things, while remaining no-thing...

Witness consciousness does not listen to thoughts. It cannot. It is a silent witness, and it is said to luminate (whatever that means) your thoughts. One of the main problem with A Vedanta is that they say there are two types of consciousness; one that is vyavaharika (it interprets input to the brain and some call it the mind) and the second is pure witness, which is a silent witness which luminates your thoughts. This is why many get confused. What does one mean by luminate? If the vyavaharika consciousness already interpreted it, what is the purpose of lumination?
