I don’t even know how to properly explain it, but mk11 plays in such a weird way where the players bad habits are exacerbated but at the same time rewarded(D1 into special, wake up jump). Maybe that’s why the residual playerbase is littered with people that think like this

The reason you find this breed of players in such high quantity in MK11 is because MK11 rewards brain dead gameplay like no other game. Every NRS game rewards bs and brain dead gameplay to some extent, but nothing comes close to MK11. It's a lot harder to win a kombat league set in MK1 vs. MK11 for NPCs like this guy which is why they're still playing MK11.

I mean, you're not entirely wrong, but also these kinds of players exist in every fighting game. Mk just has voice chat. I can't imagine the shit you would hear from people who lose exclusively to crouch medium into fireball in any street fighter is much different from this. Also, this isn't even exclusive to fighting games, the brain rot you could hear in something like dota is even worse.

I tried going back because everyone is and since 1 is bad or whatever and got turned off immediatly. I dont even want to hate the game but this game just boils my blood. Mk1 Havik Unblockables, Sindel hard to blockables whatevs. However, 1 random down 2 krushing blow makes me want to jump out a window...

that's just objectively wrong though. mk11's biggest problems are all things that could be addressed in a small patch, bug fixes, balance changes and it's damn near perfect, the "braindead" stuff you talk about are a small number of characters using blatant advantages they have. MK1 is inarguably more brain dead though, the most poorly implemented tag assist system ever resulted in a game where 3 kameos are good the rest are literally worthless and the reason they are good is because 1: they make every single thing a character has safe 2: they can convert grabs to combos. So in 11 you need to play 1 of 4 characters and spam something safe hoping it will carry you and/or learn frame data to be able to take your turn, in 1 its just all spam all the time in addition to another untested, unbalanced roster, poke into safe cameo, whiff into safe cameo, unsafe string into safe cameo, projectile into cameo to cover cooldown, grab into cameo. Mk11 is unbalanced no doubt about it, but mk1 is just a stress test for your down, x/square and R1 buttons

​@@IC2Iwith 11 the gameplay just gets boring. Nearly 50 to 100% health gone with krushing blows, too much zoning capabilities. Breakaway felt really horrible. In MK 1 there's a lot more pressure with kameos and the thought of aerial kombos. Got more quitalities in MK 1 than 11. Feels like in 1 it's more fair and sometimes it is one sided or sometimes it's even. Although 11 is faster I feel like 1 was more fair. If KB's came back in 1 everyone would rage more depending on aerial kombo kb's Kameo KB's and more un fair BS.

Considering how much MK11 got ragged on as a trash game, I feel like @ynwo 's statement doesn't really hold any merit. I mean, if we want to talk about games being trash, one could argue that both games are garbage and so it does not make a lot sense to go from one piece of garbage to another. And I say this as someone who loves both games. I played MK11 *on the Switch* for 5 years before I could afford an XBox Series S and pre-order MK1. I have fun playing both, but MK11 is also the one game to make me absolutely rage over stuff that was counter-intuitive or nonsensical (be it in Kombat League due to inaccurate or incomplete tooltips on the move list menus, or Konsumables and Modifiers in Towers of Time failing to interact with one another in an intuitive fashion). I could (and in some places, already have!) composed an essay discussing all the things that make MK11 great to play, but difficult to watch. MK1 doesn't require the same level of initiation for audiences to enjoy, by comparison, and has a much stronger core gameplay loop. I would also argue MK1 does a slightly better job of respecting players' time, rather than pushing an obnoxious mobile game style of FOMO for many rewards or turning the Krypt into a seriess of randomized lootboxes.
