Lived in France from 80 -83 and have been back many times; my best friend (USA like me) has been there since 83 when he came to visit me. Shortly after his arrival I left for Spain. I have to say there is not a French food that I'm just crazy about. What I am crazy about is the way they eat, the emphasis on taking one's time, enjoying the various courses, the aperitif, the coffee, the cheese, the wine, the digestive, the conversation, less focus on calories, etc. I know they don't eat like that every day that said I love all that about France but I've noticed these same aspects of eating in some other countries, Italy being just one example. France (Europe) did change my utensil use. While there I asked myself why I was wasting so much time cutting with my knife in my right hand and then putting that down and switching the fork from my left hand to my right hand and on and on. I told myself ca suffit and learned to eat as if I were left handed or European. Much more simple and to this day I still eat like the French. Finally there is one thing I do love in France, the patisserie pain aux raisins. I was addicted to them eating 2 to 5 a day when there. But I finally had to cut way back on them because of their cholesterol content. Hey, I'm American- worry, worry... But before I cut back I did find a bakery here near Flint, Michigan that makes some of the best pain aux raisins I've ever had in my life anywhere and that includes France. I'm still shocked by this. J'aime beaucoup aussi les tartes aux citrons. So, have I contradicted myself? You be the judge.

In the subtitles they give the English name as shepherd's pie, but that's made from lamb or mutton; the nearest English dish is cottage pie, tho' we don't usually use cheese in it. Do you use cheese in the Argentine version?

J’aime à faire et à manger les gâreaux. Quand j’étais quatorze ans, je faisais la bûche de noël, le pâté chaud, la crème renversée(le flan) ect .... On a acheté un livre qui comporte beaucoup de recettes françaises “la pâtissière familiale”. Je me rappelle quand j’étais petite, mon père m’a donné des bonbons , des chocolats, “fabriqué en France”. Et aussi des boîtes de biscuit “Lu”, du beurre “Bretel”, du fromage “Camember”, “Roquefort”. Mon père m’a dit qu’il faut savoir manger les aliments français. Je remercie vos clips. J’essaye d’ exprimer mes idées en français. Maintenant j’ai soixante quatre ans(2020). J’étudiais le programme français de douxième jusqu’à première. C’était ma langue principale, le vietnamien, 1ère langue étrangère, l’anglais, 2ème . Au revoir, à bientôt . Autres clips, n’est-ce-pas. Vous êtes mademoiselle ou madame, je ne sais pas. Duck confit with potatoes _à la sarladaise_ is heavenly. You use the duck fat to cook the potatoes, which is "good fat". If we're speaking about desert, cherry _clafoutis_ is fantastic, almost like a _flan_ but with the whole fruits in it, and on breakfasts or _goûters_ the _pain perdu_ is awesome. You recycle stale bread by dipping it in a mix of egg and milk until its soaked and cook it on a pan, which turns it spongy again.

Probably one of my favorite Easy French videos. Why, well the subject is very interesting as are both the people and the quartier- very multi cultural. I lived a year in Paris in the 80s and have gone back many times. The neighborhood I see in this video is the kind I like to walk in. Great job. I remember reading somewhere that the most popular meal in France is the steak frites which surprised me. Don't think it comes from France but when I'm there especially in Paris I like to eat a good couscous. My favorite food is probably baked fish (salmon, red snapper, etc) with rice and vegetables

@@rb026 Thanks for the feedback. As you can see, my comment was from 2 years ago so things have changed. I still love and eat couscous, but now you can get the ingredients for making it here in the US though I've yet to find a restaurant that serves it where I live. I would love to find fish couscous because I don't eat meat. I should probably go on KZbin and learn how to make it myself. In fact, I think I will. I've had it in Morocco, France, and Tunisia. Oh, I forgot I do buy vegetarian couscous from the deli section of a natural food store I go to on a regular basis, but you can't eat it there. It's pretty good but in honesty a bit too sweet for me. I don't know why we US Americans like adding sugar to so many foods. Raisins, I don't mind but sugar, no.

Merci Hélène pour cette vidéo. Ce qui me surprend beaucoup, c'est que les gens ne sont pas capable d'expliquer ce qu'il y a dans les plats français, qu' ils aiment. Mon plat français préféré, est, les tripes à la mode de Caen. C'est un plat typiquement Normand, fait avec les différents morceau de l'estomac de la vache (très très bien nettoyées ) cuit avec des carottes, dès poireaux, dès oignons et plusieurs épices et condiments. La cuisson est longue, mais c'est vraiment trop bon. C'est très français. Je vous recommande vivement d'aller en manger en Normandie. Etienne

Le civé de sanglier, l'aligot saucisse , le magret de canard avec des patates à la sarladaises (cuites dans la graisse de canard),le cou farcis ( oui j'aime le canard ) , et aussi plat que mon arriere grand-père(même si c'est pas une spécialité)il fait des pâtes qu'après il fait revenir dans la graisse avec du persil et de l'ail et puis en dessert de la pompe à l'huile ! Je pense que pas grand monde connais mais c'est tellement bon

Merci beaucoup Helene et Hideki, vous etes tres, tres cool !! Quand je visite la France, mon plat prefere est les moules frites avec du pain (croustillant) Apres cela, j`aurai un gateau au chocolat. Et puis, une biere, peut-etre deux...ou trois !! Voila, maintenant, j`ai faim.
