I have been away from home, to look for a job in my field. It’s been so long and over the time I got so depressed and saddened that I couldn’t stop crying for the past few weeks. Then Ramadan came and I am thinking of why am I here and basically questioning everything. With respect for Doctor Younis, I’m not sure about her suggestion for goal planning based on comparing oneself to others. I think it’s helpful to compare ourselves to ourselves and see what we can do better. For example, as a revert, there was my first Ramadan where I’d never fasted. My goal that Ramadan was to fast. Is that unique? No, but it was a big step forward for me in my deen. I’d encourage others to look at themselves as individuals and what they can do that’s different/more pleasing to Allah SWT from before and what will ultimately help them get closer to Him.

I don’t think that statement was meant to be literal. It’s the fact that everyone will be observing the obligations upon all of us, this is the bare minimum that everyone will be doing.. so what can we do to go above and beyond that as an individual rather than just doing the latter.

Allah aap ko khoob khoob jazaye khair de aap ne meri aankhen kholi hain or hum jaise nalaiqon ko aap se sikhne ka ta der( for a long)moqa de. Aap ko sehat or aafiyat ke sath qaim wa daim rakhe .
