With all the equipment you have loaded in your truck, then adding a large aux fuel tank, I'd be very concerned about exceeding the GVWR or the rear GAWR on the truck. The fuel tank alone, when full, might be pushing 1000 lbs, then add the pin weight of your fifth wheel and it would be easy to get way overweight.

Yeah, that was my concern but I don’t plan on using that auxiliary fuel tank when I’m hauling our fifth wheel only when I’m hauling these smaller ones for this tollway service

Most of the transport companies don't allow you to work for other companies using the truck that you leased on with. Once your truck is under their d.o.t. number you can only haul for them.

Legally you cannot be leased on to more than 1 company

I’ve been doing this for 8 years and I don’t think you can haul for more than one company. Not Towaway , you can with DriveAway but I’ve not heard of being able to lease your truck on with more than one company.

I think some companies might be different with the start up costs. I know a few people and I've been working towards doing this and they haven't told me about all those expensive costs. I'll have to do more research. Thanks for the info

I drive big rigs and getting into doing this in October this year. I bought a 2021 3500 ram this year. Get a diesel truck, don’t get a gasser yes more maintenance with a diesel but will last longer. Go to your local fleet pride once your have your truck and tell them you need DOT safety equipment which is flares and triangles. Also need a fire extinguisher and spare fuses. Also look into getting a transfer fuel tank for the bed otherwise you will eat your profit in fuel costs.

I am an independent contractor - our truck is leased to Wave. They have kept me busy so I didn't have to to lease with anyone else.

Thank you for all the easily digestible information in the videos! I know this is newer for you, but what do you plan on doing in the winter. My husband and I are planning to start up in September and Indiana is a pretty cold place to winter in an RV. We are full-timers. Do you or anyone who has done this for a longer period of time have recommendations?

Great question! We plan on staying at our long term spot in Alabama and driving to pick up loads. It’s much warmer and cheaper surviving winter there. When we started this in February a few guys brought their RV’s to Indiana and they couldn’t find any spots open that time of year there. That’s why ours is in Alabama. We don’t think it is too far of a drive.

I just subscribed. You should do a video about the process of licensing your Denali as a commercial motor vehicle. Or did you? Did you go from plates from whatever state you live that are for a private vehicle to a CMV plate for max 26,000 pound gross. I would need to do that for Louisiana.

The reason you need a log book is incase your app doesn’t work, you need to transfer to the paper log book.
