Hey, I failed my first interview at Microsoft as well. Thankfully, I tried again the year after and interviewed with a backend systems programming team and now I work there (at the headquarters in Redmond) as a software engineer. Don’t give up!

Thank you for opening up and sharing your experience with us. It really means alot to anyone who is going through an interview process also. Interviewing is a months long process and its very exhausing and hard! Rejactions arent easy to swallow. Good luck to your youtube channel. Im comitting to be one of your long term consumer :)

Wow! Good lessons in this process. I agree wth you, we never must give up. Rather do our best every time because in that way people don't overlook us easily. For me failures are the natural path to success. It's what we do all the time as developers: usually, running more than once our programs, because we know that most likely there is something that might be wrong waiting for correction. But in doing it we actually know that we are closer to the our goal, that is, good code and a program running as expected. So, by now, you must be closer to what you expect and deserve. Cheers!

Yeah, every failure is a step closer to the success. And I prefer to learn from them, and honestly it is not always easy. We as developers become accustomed to failure and become resilient to it. Thank you.

Hey. Thanks for making this video. I recently got rejected from aws and I expected to get an offer after my interviews. I was very certain I’ll get in till I didn’t. Stuff you mentioned in the video is very relatable. Hope you’re happy with the job you have now. Cheers :)

it's a lot about luck too. i also went through the microsoft interviews, all coding/behavioural interviews. did very well in 2 of them, one was ok but had great conversation with the interviewer. the last one was pretty bad because i didn't really understand the interviewer. but i still got an offer. it was for SDE I (60) though, the second lowest level. agree that it's not that you are a poor engineer, it's just there is someone better at that time for that position.

I thought not only my interview experience but trying to make a course out of it for which i have given the interview. I feel a bit upset but thought its a challenge for me as well.

Hi Omar. I appreciate your request and I want to be honest, I have no experience with it at all. I could research the topic, however it is much better to hear it from a person how actually experienced. I will recommend to checkout or reach out to "Life of Luba" youtube channel because she actually experienced and shared in a few of her videos.

I am swe and I had to go through 100s of rejections to get an offer. I have switched few companies and this process repeated so many times. I feel all the time that I am not good but still I do not lose faith in myself and always think I will be better in work or interview next time. Interviewing is kinda drama and we just have to swallow the process.

It has been a while since this happened, and I am not sure about your beliefs, but someone told me the following phrase: If there is capacity and knowledge, and you are not given an opportunity (in this case a job), then it is divine intervention (God in my case). Then you should now that where you are right know it is the best for you :)

Sounds like you’d have a clear shot if you went for a backend-only role. Once you said that you never did frontend professionally, I was like “Oh, that’s why”. That aligns well with your description of how the UI interview went. For pure backend, you’d have another coding round instead, something you were well prepared for. I‘d guess you interviewed for a senior level, that implies limited amount of learning on the spot.
@HolisticDeveloper4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, however I also want an opportunity to grow and do things that I have not done before and this looked like a great opportunity for that goal.

I like Microsoft interviewing process especially 10 years ago, because Microsoft paid for two days travel, and it was a good chance to explore the area. Certainly knowing HTML and CSS is helpful, but remembering? Why, stackoverflow and other resources help. And I clearly know why Microsoft rejected, unfortunately can't share on KZbin. I can tell only, it doesn't matter how good you were on interview.
