LET's CUT THIS EASTSIDE NONSENSE OUT. I'm 51 years old. I was born and raised in Chicago. All my life it has been known that Chicago DOES NOT have an eastside. That is because Chicago's sides of town are gridded from the heart of Chicago which is the intersection of State and Madison streets. State Street is zero west and zero east while Madison Street is zero north and zero south. From that intersection is how you arrive at all sides of the City of Chicago. The intersection of State and Madison lies within downtown Chicago. East of downtown Chicago and east of the heart of Chicago there is a huge lake called Lake Michigan. This is why Chicago DOES NOT HAVE AN EASTSIDE. East of the heart of Chicago is all part of downtown Chicago, and east of downtown Chicago is Lake Michigan. NOT HAVING A EASTSIDE MAKES Chicago unique. That part of Chicago that people nowadays are calling "the eastside" is in all honesty part of the southside of Chicago. People just need to accept that the southside is big as hell.
