They were happy because they saw you as a tourist who's come to India for the first time, but as a street photographer myself from Mumbai I can tell you people are not generally very sweet with us locals , sometimes they get supermad especially the cops😭😂. Though I'm glad you had a great experience visiting India🙌❤

@@Dangermonkey1000 I would differ in that. a smile goes a long way...take the photo, if they look at you, smile, wave, do a thumbs up, put your guard down. they will want to know more. show them, smile and move

Fr Bro...I got my first camera and went to take some panning shots of cars and the traffic police asked me to stop that because there's a police post there. Actual reason was probably they I was a journalist (which I'm studying actually) and thought I was taking their pics because they were actually stopping vehicles for you know what;). Seeing these foreign street photographers taking photos so freely kind of makes me wanna shift abroad haha

Hey Mike... amazing clicks dude... and thanks for not showcasing only the slums in your photographs like some photographers/journalists/bloggers do... you showed what Mumbai is... whenever anyone from west hears the word Mumbai or India... the only picture they have in mind are slums... thanks for not doing that :)

first up: the photo of the guys on the wall at water is simply amazing! Secondly I believe there's a non-verbal communication around the world which tells you instantly if you're entitled and cordially invited to take a photo. It happened to me photographing in Jerusalem. People can tell by looking into your face what your intentions are... and what applies to your attitude: good things happen to good people! 🙏🏻

Thanks! I always remember that last line. I do believe good things happen to good people 100%

Absolutely! India is an incredible place for photography. The locals are incredibly welcoming and always eager to have their picture taken. They don't even mind asking to see the picture afterwards.

Mike, thank you for bringing up the "disrespect" feeling. You unfortunately are the first photographer that's mentioned that and it's something that seriously bangs home for me. Way to often photographers will shoot selfishly and without thought for the subject. The mere fact that this is something you are aware of shout respect to me. thank you for thinking beyond the photo.

Great video Mike, looks like your career is really taking off. I have the Xt3 but really want the R6, not happy with the Fuji, yes it takes great photos but the ergonomics are no good for me personally and I could really do with IBIS. Can I ask, what Film Camera were you using?
@MikeChudley2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I agree about the IBIS, it's those little details you pay for with the R6. The film camera I used was the Canon EOS 300 - literally costs less than £20 haha

I wonder why did you go for wide lens? Generally, in Indian street, 50mm and above is good as we have so many things going on. So it helps to focus on your subject and perspective more.
@MikeChudley2 жыл бұрын
I much prefer wider focal lengths for street. Makes me look for better compositions and if I'm close enough I prefer how it looks. But saying that, 50mm is a lot of fun! I just didn't want to change my gear around much. I like to keep it simple.
