thanks for the insight! how does it work, when you have a 24h tour-around time you shoot lets say 4 DJs do you just give them the rough cuts? so you are a videographer mostly focusing on just shooting and not acutally creating the SM content for the artists? thanks in advance!

@@shotbyarian Thanks for the great question! It all depends on what the artists manager is looking for, since their team does the posting. Most the time they want “RAWs” which is a number of selects, 30s-1m clips of songs or highlights of the night. For each “RAW” or clip, I will add a LUT and do minor adjustment, then cut the fluff, only showing the rise and drop of a song. Most of the time I send 10-15 RAWs per artist. I’ll either edit after the set through the night or first thing in the AM. Then I will deliver before 24h. Then they choose which selects to post. Hope this answers this. Lmk if you have any other Qs!

@@tyrellcastro thanks a lot for the detailed response! how does your proposal look like? are you selling packs, like 10 RAW selects 30s-1m cost x, 15 RAW selects 30s-1m cost x*1,5-discount? my background are motorsports and sailing events in europe, i make content for sponsors or organizers and i am specialized in FPV drone shots. i love drum and bass events as a guest and i am always thinking about doing some events paid .. what kind of money can be made in your niche? no need for exact numbers, but what what would be the range? let's say you do 4 DJs with 10 selects each at one night f.e.? thanks a lot in advance!

@@shotbyarian Love me some DNB too. Like with any industry , someone’s pricing is different based on experience. But I find a lot of people who start, like my friend Kat mentioned in the video, will exchange media for tickets. It’s pretty common. Which sets the expectations for pricing low for everyone. There’s a lot of low ball offers out there and it’s easy to be taken advantage of in the music industry. Which makes shooting DJs more of a side hustle for me, it’s not very sustainable. Unless you tour with an artist and have connections with a lot of producers. For pricing it depends on how big the artist is and also what they need. Video + photo? Or just video? Multicam coverage? Recap? My minimum all in for just video work is 350 USD. (10-15 RAWs) If they need anything additional then I’ll add to that cost to what I seem is fair. let’s say you really like a DNB artist, they come to your city and you hit them up. They respond to you, only to find out they have little to no budget. It’s up to you to decide to take it or not, or try to negotiate something to make it reasonable. Maybe you’re capturing just photos or maybe sending 5-10 selects. Or maybe you’re gonna shoot the artist for a ticket because you really like them. It goes back to what I said earlier. It’s complicated.
