Lived in Australia all my life and every weekend still feels like a holiday. It never gets old, especially with children. Cheers.

Moved here to Thornlands near Brisbane in 2008. Migrating is emotionally hard as so many life changes. Home. Job. Country, etc. It took me to settle about 4 or 5 years. Soon as we got citizenship. From around the 8 year mark visiting uk, I got homesick for Australia. Noticed sooo much change back in uk. Pubs I liked have gone. Shops changed and some gone. Food products I liked changed don't taste same. A lot seems to have gone downhill over there which is why after seeing family I missed Australia. Was glad to come back from holiday visit. The changes here in Australia have always been positive. New parks, shops, places to go to. It is growing in SEQ and quickly. Brisbane is always changing. Homes are expensive. When we moved over homes cost around $200k. Early 00s £1 was worth $3. For a long time it has been around 51p to $1. Since around 2012. Whenever you move post out house-warming party invites to neighbours. Host a BBQ get together. Do a bring a plate. We have friendships over 10 years long from such events. The girls have girls weekends away, cruises and us lads have 2 or 3 camping weekends away. We have birthday get togethers etc have messenger groups organise things. Us lads even have DIY jobs we help each other out with too. What I found is many Aussies need to build friendships too as many are interstate moved here from far. So they are similar to yourself with social circles. So yep reach out host BBQs invite whoever. Eventually you make some friends. I have friends here we are close like family now. You need them for the emotional hard times. We lost family in uk. Parents and our friends were very supportive during that time. It was during covid when there was separation everywhere. If you are in one of those newly developing areas making friendship groups should be a doddle. Everyone's in similar situation.

My sister-in-law moved here with her 3 young children and they had never been to Australia. They lived with their husband’s Uncle which was their only relative. Built a house within 18 months and are still here. We moved here 20 years ago with 4 children under 10. Was always going to be our home, but it was hard. Wouldn’t want to live anywhere else - we are in Perth.

Housing is quite expensive when related to average income here, but that’s because housing supply has been quite tight for a long time, especially around the cities and anywhere near a beach where everyone wants to live and there’s simply not enough developed real estate to go around. I sometimes see folk being shocked by house prices in Sydney for example, but that’s like being shocked by house prices in London or New York. Expectations need to be managed!

In most states it is difficult to fire somebody once they are permanent. That's why there are various ways to vet people.

You guys are so down to Earth . I know a Scottish family from You Tube are now returning to Scotland . They said work life balance is better in Scotland and they missed family . After 2 years they were still struggling to settle down in Australia . They said that there is a better work life balance in Scotland . The reason was that they weren’t permanent residents yet and never received government support . They missed being close to Europe. The problem was that they left their hearts in the UK . They were constantly comparing everything to the UK . They never gave themselves a chance to make it work here . After 2 years being in Australia , they were refused Australian citizenship. If only the government granted them citizenship, they may have stayed . We who live in Australia supported them through you tube but it wasn’t enough . Sad but good luck to them when they return to Scotland . You guys are doing so well and are so positive and I know you will make it work here . Thank you for your video .

This video confirms why I daily BLESS the decision my forebears made to come here. (And that Judge at the Essex Assizes). Australian food, snacks and drinks all use cane sugar, not beet sugar. Subtle taste difference. Cane seems sweeter. Keep exploring your new land. Lots to see and do. The only issue is that they are so bl..dy far apart!!! You have PR. Now go for "permanent" jobs, and then Citizenship. Fit a mortgage and a family in somewhere. Then you are well and truly hooked, and will never escape.

When over a million people have come to Australia in the last two years, no wonder housing supply has become limited and much more expensive!!

Learn to eat cheap by buying bread rolls , deli meat and salad vegetables - make things stretch out... Higher wages are available - Bathurst behind the blue mountains is desperate for staff for jobs from taco Bell to sheep farming yard hands , telemarketing but most of all - 1-3 year trained aged care support workers... $46.80 p.h. sounds OK doesn't it ? Look regionally. Treck west , more houses, more rentals , more space, more Australian than just being on the coast. Don't settle for coast cities..push yourself to the adventure you really came for.

Have you actually done aged care support? NOT EASY AT ALL. My son does it along with his girlfriend.

Yes ... do the tafe course or do in care training and absolutely it's difficult work - but staff are needed and many people have career changes and are looking for semi long term basis work in areas where jobs are available. Look at jobs in Katoomba, Orange, Bowral, south of Wollongong - all cheaper than larger cities and with secure work , renting is more attainable.

Im a working Aussie that has basically been priced out of the rental market. Staying with my folks to pay off debt and save for a deposit on an RV/Van to live in. Fortunately for me? Thats the kind of life i WANT. Im a little shocked i havent done it sooner. Pocket my money, instead of making someone else rich. MAYBE ill be able to afford a permanent home, if im debt free and have the opportunity to save properly, for it. But the price of BUYING a house? Is probably equally prohibitive.

Well you two, I haven't watched you for a while and I'm glad to see you are integrating well and are probably going to be permanent. Mike I am very jealous of you, Teresa is completely mad and has a fabulous personality, she must be so much fun. I have spent a few months in GB and I very much agree with something you said in one of your videos and that is that walking down the street Pommies just look at their feet as the walk past you, never saying hello or looking you in the eye, that was very hard to take as an Aussie, it was like you had terrorist printed across your chest.

Well in Melbourne this is pretty standard in terms of eye contact and looking at you feet Bo difference with London really other parts of Australia are different but in a big city like Melbourne the largest city in Australia just overtaken Sydney., this lack of eye context and looking at feet fairly common.

So, are you actually working as a teacher here or was that just a way of getting your visa? After your comment about jobs, makes me think you are not working as a teacher. 🤔

It’s a long story! I applied for teaching jobs but unfortunately it was at the end of the academic year so there weren’t many positions available. Now it’s the school holidays so no one is hiring until schools reopen in February. So for now I’m working in education-related field until I can get a teaching job. It’s a lot harder than we thought it would be!

I am Perth WA Born & bred (grew up in Scarborough with a beach lifestyle thinking that was just the norm for most - as a teen & in 20's surfed, dived, fished, motorbikes, cars & ski boat) my wife is from the Uk (Cornwell) came to Perth travelling met me and the rest is history. Kids are now grown up and we have travelled extensively both within Aus & overseas. This year we travelled both Uk & Europe for 6 weeks. It was fun as tourist but could never live like that as way too many people & UK/Europe is more expensive than here post covid. My wife can't stand the cold weather anymore and getting back home to Perth hits home that we we do live the ideal lifestyle. High wages saw us repay our mortgage, 4wd, caravan, big Hse, swimming pool, classic cars & raise kids at the same time. Welcome to the land of paradise (Perth does not have the humidity of QLD and much better beaches - haha) Noticed this YT channel is recently showcasing a lot about WA with excellent production www.youtube.com/@AmazeJourneys/videos
