Oh an one of my son's was in a ship when that Mostar wave hit yrs back woke up hitting roof of cab then hitting floor 😂 few day's later he was doing lonelines on deck when second wave hit captain yelled hang on ta something then he sees wave washed over side for 15 minutes fending of seal before another wave pushed him back ta ladder every boat has a cabin like that one you used its for those that go over always have night terror so engine covers there scream 😢

You are clearly mistaken and thinking of a different wave. The Turnagain arm has essentially zero boat traffic due to the shallowness and extreme tides.

So do you recommend 5-6- or 7 mil wetsuit for that Alaska water how cold was it you know?

I’m a local who rides the boretide regularly. Outside of the extreme shoulder season (April/October), a 4:3 will be fine. That’s what I typically wear all summer. If you wear anything thicker in June/July, you are going to burn up out there. Even a 3:2 will be fine most of the time. Even though it’s Alaska, the arm is very shallow and so the water tends to be warmer than you might think. Don’t forget gloves and booties too, especially since you have to descend down rip rap to get to the water. Keep in mind this is boretide specific advice. If you are gonna get in the water in other parts of Alaska, you may need a thicker wetsuit.

Seems magical but also so sketchy to just paddle out in a deserted place where no one would help if you got in trouble

It’s hardly deserted since a major Alaska highway runs alongside it. And as long as you have a wetsuit and a solid leash, you’ll be fine. Even if you did loose your board, the wetsuit will give you enough buoyancy and you either swim to shore or the tide will just carry you up the arm until you get to a point where u can stand and just walk up to the road. I know this from experience lol. But it’s always good to go with buddies if possible, since there is plenty of wave for everyone!
