They definitely don't make it easy to get your foot in the door to get started. However, a lot of places are looking for free labour (which is like... y'know... illegal in most places but idk) so you can often find places that will let you intern or "volunteer". Also it could be helpful to find smaller companies that may not be as strict about things like having a college degree. I've gotten job offers just from seeing people a bunch of times at shows and having conversations that made them think I'd be a good fit for something!

@@HoneyLuvey This is a great question!! It's a bit easier for me now that I've been working for so long because I talk to friends and they introduce me to the people they're there with or we end up in the same conversations. I have two points to make on this: 1. Social media has made meeting new people easier because you can be like "oh hey I think we've spoken on twitter once about ____ so I just wanted to say hello!" or you can make plans ahead of time to try and meet up to say hi, and it gets easier each time you do it! 2. I think it's better to try and talk to anyone, regardless of their job or status within the industry. There's something to learn from everyone, and some of the fans I've met and befriended have been the people I built websites or put on events with down the road. It's more about finding people who share your interests and passions and then growing together! Or at least that's how I feel about things. :) If you have any other questions, let me know! This is what I want to focus my channel on moving forward so I can definitely make some videos on things you may have questions about. :)

You should get a college degree of something of your interest or related to music. Search up universities that may interest you and their music departments. This is good because you have a backup and big companies like to see you have a degree. Its good you are involved in music festivals and such put them in your resume. Also search companies with interships some let younger kids like u others prefer college students. Good luck!

I'm not at that label anymore! I actually started my original channel right after I left. Most of what I do now is freelancing & social media management, along with trying to turn my blog/channel into something I can do full time. :)

When you are an artist and you send a demo and get a positive response, what happens then? Do you get a job interview?

This was more for the job side of things as opposed to the artist side! If you send a demo and they like it, they'll contact you to set up a meeting but it's less like a job interview. They'd be signing you to a contract or some type of deal and you'd be working with them, but it's a totally different process from a job! I can try and make a video more about this in the future. :)

At major labels, no one really tours with the artist! A&R probably works closest with them, because they're the ones that go out and find them. I worked in marketing and went to school for entertainment management. Some of my coworkers went to school for communications, digital marketing, I think some just got a general BA... mostly they're just looking for your passion in music. 😊

I think programs that offer an internship are great because it helps you take that first step between school and work. Plus, I know they can often turn into paid jobs (or they can call you later when a position opens up). And in terms of language... I think as long as you're able to communicate with the people you're working with, it shouldn't be a problem! This isn't something I've run into myself so I can't say for sure, but I can try and track down a friend who knows more about this!

Marketing is good! Plus it gives you an education for other industries as well if you decide the music industry isn't for you. I think it mostly depends on which skills you want to work on! I know people who took digital marketing, artist management, graphic design, business admin, communications... it all depends on what type of jobs you want to go for!
