Y’all gotta take Drake OUT of top 5. He was considered that due to his consistency and work;however, upon learning how he stifles up-and-coming artists and steals their work, steals styles and flows from established poppin artists, and doesn’t write a lot of his work, you cannot keep him top anything!!! What we were once judging is a façade and changes everything. It’s now disrespectful to keep him close to any artist that doesn’t do the same.

He’s also helped put-on on more high level artists than any other emcee. To be The GOAT its more than rapping or hits. It’s the Positive impact of your presence. It’s culture. It’s who you put on. It’s your influence. It’s how many other artists look up to you. The way rappers make albums was changed forever by Nas - ILLmatic. He changed the genre, forever. Drake and everybody else makes albums after Nas’ influence. Jay and Nas are #1 and #2 in any order. Undisputed. Nobody has been high level respected longer. I don't think Drake is one of the top 5, in terms of skill or in accomplishments. Drake rules popular music, which is his main qualification for any "all-time great" list. In my opinion, his competition is simply far weaker than what the top artists of the past were dealing with. He is just benefitting from an era where the "real" rappers don't make mainstream hits, and the mainstream hitmakers don't "really" rap. I firmly believe that if he was dropped into the early 2000's rap environment, he would be middle of the pack at best. Does anyone really think that Drake would be the dominant artist in a field that contained greats like Em, Jay, Wayne, and Outkast, along with mainstream radio staples that were still rappers actually rapping, like 50 Cent, TI, etc.? Mid-00's and earlier, he is not even close to the dominant artist of those eras.
@SweetieMs3 ай бұрын
That’s what bothers me about people who keep putting Aubrey in the top… he didn’t have the same kind of competition AND IT WAS BECAUSE labels would make sure he hopped on songs with all his potential competitors, and many artists who didn’t do that got suppressed in marketing budgets to work their music. He’s a plant in alllll the truest ways

@@MrOhioPlayer Get out of your feelings. They are doing what they should do. THIS is a podcast.Drake and Kendrick are hot are the hottest currently. Why not talk about them as often as possible?
@MrOhioPlayer3 ай бұрын
@OptimisticFletcher1 Lmaoo, your optimism is conflicted. You of all people should want to see a better future for the culture, not the same BS. Has nothing to do with feelings. Everyone chasing the clickbate is why the BET awards looked the way it did. Just didn't want Hiphopdx going down the same path.

saying donald glover is cosplaying is wild when he's been so consistent in his image as the nerdy artsy black dude. donald switching lanes into different forms of entertainment was never a surprise because he always showed he was into these different things similar to ye. elliott's wild take made for some great discussion tho so props for that

Big fan of THE BIGGER PICTURE, I think it would be exciting if y'all consider having guests on the show, especially music producers and DJs as they are somehow under-appreciated. The segment question can be about the industry and maybe ask then to do rankings of the biggest MCs. Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦

Yes! Going to get guests in after the first 10 most likely. Thanks for watching. Who would you want to see as our first guest?

Hed is so professional. The experience he has to be able to, on the spot, know what to answer and what not to answer is top tier. Utmost respect and dignity for the people he speaks on

Im not even a big Lil Wayne fan but he has so many musical children and that cant be understated in a top list.

@@Hiii_Power_Cuban Yeah, it’s one of those topics where people try to be politically correct. And go with the most relevant. He’s a very good pop artist and good at making song for women to get ready for clubs, etc.
