What made our life easy with infant at airport | Delhi to Guwahati | Travelling with 4 months infant

Nia’s first flight was something which we were looking up for a long time now. However, we waited for her to complete 4 months before commencing on this journey so that it is more manageable.
From having breakfast in the lounge to waiting for the zoomcar at the Guwahati Airport, this trip was far away from what we planned.
Firstly, Nia did not sleep in the flight as she had overslept earlier. And then our troublesome experience with the Zoomcar which kept us famished all throughout the noon!
Talking about planning and experience regarding Nia, we booked the flights near Nia’s sleep time so that she sleeps off the landing and take off part and avoids painful ear due to air pressure (if any) altogether.
However, Nia kept sleeping for a long time before boarding and hence was awake when the plane took off. To manage this situation, I latched her to milk which resulted in (1) continuous movement of her ears and jaws to equalise the air pressure and (2) distraction from pain (if any).
After landing at the Guwahati airport, it was time to change Nia’s diaper. We change it frequently to avoid rash episodes. And till now she has had none of that, may be because of this diligent ritual only. There is a neat baby room at the Guwahati Airport with multiple clean diaper stations and baby products. The products were in lock and key. I assume they could be bought on demand but since I already had everything for Nia with me, I need not ask for them.
The baby is to be carried in arms throughout journey, from home to the airport, then waiting at the airport whether the baby is awake or asleep. A decision which we enjoyed regarding this is to bring a carry cot with us.

We brought Nia’s carry cot with us on this journey which made our life so much easier. We introduced Nia with Carry cot cum car seat at a very young age. Perhaps when she was 4 days old, first time to the hospital after birth for regular check up. It is meant for babies of the age 0 to 12 months. As we had planned for a self driven car for all of our Meghalaya trip, it was more of a necessity than a luxury to have Nia’s carry cot cum car seat with us. It helped us to make Nia comfortable at the airports and during transfers along with making her secure during car rides. It was a much needed safety measure while driving in the hills with the infant.
Airlines allow these collapsable carry cots in checkins at no extra cost.
Another thing which helped us was a carrier with butt seat. It allowed Nia to be wrapped securely in our arms while we walked, trekked, climbed etc. These products can be seen linked below for your quick reference.
