“The power is in the cross” - You can tell Henry understands the game really well
@AzUthred2 жыл бұрын
Well technicaly most of the power is in Benzemas momentum (physicly), and how he puts his weight in to the header. If he would have got the same cross while standing still, he could never head the ball with this pace. This wasnt a strong cross. So Henry is wrong with this statment or he is talking about "abstract power". Because it was indeed a perfect cross.
@TheMRmatt0072 жыл бұрын
Well, he was a professional player for many years. It would be a paradox if he didn't understand the game. Like a veteran welder who doesn't understand welding...Henry could probably become a very good coach. The only thing I disn't like about him is when he cheated against Ireland, and that for me is a big stain on his otherwise good career.

What makes Benzema even more awesome is that he does it not because he wants the spotlight, but because someone needs to take the 2 very important roles that were left vacant, and for the past seasons nobody was taking it up. Cristiano Ronaldo spotlight and Sergio Ramos captaincy. You can truly feel he's the captain of that team. He is taking the role not because he wants, but because he's the only one with the leadership skills that Real Madrid lost when Cristiano and Sergio Ramos left. You can see why they gave him the Captain armband, he brings a thirst to continue to push that you normally only see it on defenders. And what makes it even more efficient is because Real Madrid are always the weaker side, so they do need to play with an all or nothing approach that Benzema thrives on.

Football is simple. It's all about space. When I used to play football in college and I was defending I never paid sole attention to the opposition player or the ball but the space. Closing down space, intercepting spaces so opposition can't find teammates, closing down channels that players would run into. If you can do that you can eventually find an oppurtunity to recover the ball. The idea is not to stick tight onto the player but close down the space between you and the player to limit movement.
@mitchmitch932 жыл бұрын
well said! my experience is similar, but i've started up front as 9,5 like Benzema (haha) and later on after some injuries i started playing at the back and i can agree 100%. It's fascinating really that for example just by taking few steps up front/left/right, entire play can be changed. btw, if someone wants a proof of Benzema genius they should actually watch CR7 goals compilation, but have a closer look at Benzema's movement at the same time (if he doesnt provide assist ofc)

Exactly. He be told him: do not take more than two touches whenever you get the ball because that's what defines a great striker from an average one. - Calvert Lewin said so.

Henry should have analysed himself on why he always disappeared in big games and never scored one single goal in any final (except a barely knee touch against Cameroon in confederations cup).

Benzema has a brain with a map inside, he doesn't need to look where he will kick the ball, he is totally unexpected in his play.
