Dear Akhilesh. So the Coolpix P510: I have never used it, but it looks like a great starter camera. It is a hybrid camera, but not an SLR. It has the looks and many of the features of an SLR, just minus the removable lens (which is the biggest selling point of an SLR really). SLRs are popular because a huge portion of an images quality is from the lens. The lens on the P510 is good, but just a bit slow. When you upgrade look for something that has an f2.8 lens or faster! Best...

You said it well. D U R A B I L I T Y . R E L I A B I L I T Y . Q U A L I T Y . EOS 5D's are unfading tanks. I've trusted in mine since 2010 and I've recently got a 5DSR for replace the old one (a true bargain, believe me). The first thing I did was throw some studio shots to an 15 lb. arrange of spotty mangoes, same harsh studio lights, both cameras, same macro and prime optics (solid stuff) in each pair of pictures, and spent some time combing for sharp tack details in my monitor. I never enjoyed more the old 12.8 MPx from the old 5D, even when 50Mpx from 5DSR are incredible. You can get one of this in excellent condition for less than 300 bucks. Definitely the best invested 300 tamales in your poor photo-student life. The 90D is the same for the Nikon Stans.

i know this video is a few years old but quick add on to why megapixels don't matter. The megapixel is essentially just telling you how many millions of pixels are in the photo. Its only really noticeable in large prints, and like he said unless your making billboards or blowing up pictures for tits and giggles it really doesn't matter.
