I love my copy of wii sport, when I was a kid and my grandparents would come over, we would always play it together and it is one of my favourite memories ever, same thing with mario kart wii, 5 year old me was in the hysterics at my nan screaming and sweating at the tv with the wheel in her hand, it was lovely.

As for my collection, I have a number of cartridges that I've found over the years that were left for dead. The first non-working cart I bought was Mario Kart 64. I thought maybe it was just dirty and needed a good cleaning but no, it would not start at all. I ended up having to repair a trace on the PCB. When I finally got it to work, it was like solving a puzzle and the reward was having a new game! I have a special connection with every cart I've saved. It's a bonding experience of sorts. I don't think I'll ever sell those as each shares their own story with me. There's something about breathing new life into something that was presumed broken forever. Those are the games I cherish most. If you ever stumble across a cartridge-based game that doesn't work, I'd be more than happy to try and repair it for you!

The thing I like about my collection is my "plan" for it...once I have the bigger space a new house will have, I plan to curate and display it in a way that hits my nostalgia in a heavy way. Let's just say that it will represent the place I rented games every pay day weekend at. I can't wait. I have almost everything I want for it, which makes this even better.

As someone who actually went through the “house is on fire” scenario, I can promise you, you will not grab ANY games. I didn’t even grab my wallet. That said, most of my games luckily survived! Some of them are uglier now (my Saturn games, including Panzer Saga, hurts my heart). Only 3 games were unplayable, and they’ve all been replaced. Surprisingly, my big box PC games even made it! Which brings me to my favorite part of my collection. I grew up in the era when PC games came in big beautiful boxes with stunning artwork, and a bunch of cool things inside like maps and code wheels. I’m closing in on 400 now and they are BY FAR the pride and joy of my collection.

Favorite part of my collection, all the games I wanted as a kid but never had a chance to rent or pickup. Lately have been taking chances at game stores and trying games in a genre that would appeal to me and going for those as well. Being an adult has it’s perks!

My older cousin gave me her megadrive with Sonic 1, Kings Bounty and Cosmic Spacehead/Dizzy combo before she passed 30 odd years ago, still have them, play them and they aren't going anywhere. Hey, did I hear LEGO games? Those were awesome! Those with puzzle-based stages, usually based on a movie license. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribean, I have great memories of these ones. These are great options for playing with a friend. They're simple enough to pick up and play and are more about solving puzzles and figuring out what to do. Even someone who never played a game in their life can have a great time with those. They can be quite good at storytelling too, although having watched the movies beforehand definitely helps. Although I would recommend *ocasionally* looking up a guide, because I also remember getting stuck not knowing how to progress quite a few times on these games.

I love my collection for two reasons, 1) is that it's pretty curated to my taste. Even the filler titles I have are somewhat meaningful or for consoles I'd love to own a complete set for someday and 2) I grew up pretty tight on money so knowing that I've worked hard to have a game collection is a pretty nice feeling overall lol.

I wanted to comment on this one because it really resonates with me, and I strongly agree with your central thought - my favorite thing about my collection of games is that it's my collection, it reflects my tastes and basically, who I am as a player of games. There are games in my collection that, I'm totally certain, people would say are just awful. But I like them! So they get to stay.

I've been loving your content since I stumbled upon it recently. To answer your question, the part about my collection that I love most is that I kept almost every single game I had as a child. They're the original copies that I bought or were gifted to me. I've since added other games that I either missed out on or just wanted to have, but the games I owned since a kid are still with me to this day (and I didn't even have to write my name on the cases!).

I like my collection because I never expected to buy back most of what I sold years ago. I do feel over encumbered now that I've hit over 1,500 games in total. Some days I just want to reduce it down to what I actually enjoy versus all the fluff.

Honestly the best thing about my collection is probably that all my old childhood games are still in it. As a kid I refused to even think about selling my games and because of that (apart from a few that got lost) all my old favorites are still in the collection for me to enjoy.

I would say most of the my collection contain games I grew up with. Whenever mom looks at it and casually says, "You have too many games," she doesn't understand those games represent hours and hours of memories with friends I'm not around anymore. Its mostly because I want to support my local retro games store, which in in my local mall, so whenever im at the mall, I make sure to take a visit there and get at least one game. Its usually some dinky five dollar game that I play for like ten minutes and then put up to *maybe* play another day. But hey I have found some gems in that, Zoop is probably one of my favorite SNES games now. Edgeing on top 10 material honestly.

When I was a kid I remember always being asked what makes you happy & at the time I thought Field Trips at school. So my collection is basically a Handheld collection. It makes me feel like I'm going somewhere even if I am not. Never thought of a burning house scenario. I think I'll make sure my 3DS has Mario Kart 7 in it from now on. I love how you threw a curveball with the question of the day. It is a wonderful feeling to own the games I grew up with and seeing that list grow smaller. But I think what I like most about my collection is, while there are a lot of popular classics in there, they aren't always in the most pristine condition. I fully intend to play every game I own. Even if I don't, it's nice knowing I have that option.

Wall Street Kid was given to me by my late grandmother for Christmas when I was a kid. I still have it and play it. Every once in a while I think about how in the game you need to exercise or you have a heart attack and its game over. It gets me on off the couch. Nintendo = life lessons.

Really loving the videos. I've mentioned before that my stuff was all destroyed from natural disaster. I was proud to have kept all that for as long as I did. While I have since replaced a lot of the consoles and cartridges, I am most proud of the few boxes that survived the disaster. Through some miracle my game boxes were in a different box from all the cartridges, and since they were light they were on top of everything, so they survived the flooding. My friend had borrowed Chrono Trigger years before, and he found the manual when cleaning out his closet. He returned this to me and then a short while later his house burned down and so did all his games... So after buying a replacement cartridge, having a CIB copy (including posters in the box) of Chrono Trigger is the proudest piece of my collection. All the rare parts have narrowly escaped some major shit. While our cartridge is not the original, the manual, box, and myself, have all welcomed the new cartridge into the collection. Everything is now relocated to my new residence in Japan where we tempt fate living in the ring of fire. Keep up the great work, Retro Bird.

The things I like the most about my collection are that 1) I only collect games that I enjoyed playing when I was a kid or want to play, I don't buy games to display on the shelf and 2) I only buy mint condition games, whether they're loose cartridges or come with a box and manual. I have almost every game I've ever wanted (only 27 to go) and am very proud of my collection! I have friends who have collections 2 or 3 times larger than mine (my collection is just under 700 games) but I couldn't be happier with what I got.

There’s so many reasons I have the games I have and enjoy them. Although I don’t consider myself a collector, I do have a few hundred. One thing I like are that they represent 2 era’s - the games and consoles I played as a kid, and those I play now as I’ve got back into gaming after a 15 year break. Many of my old games and consoles were given to my by family and friends, whose houses I often played them at so whenever I see or play them today I am taken back to those fun times. And with my newer games (which may actually be old games!), I have bought them all for almost no money at op shops and as bulk lots, and have selected the ones I keep solely on what I want to play.

Love the channel and most importantly your upbeat non gatekeeper attitude. For me the most important item in my collection is my original Vader Atari 2600. I haven't played it in forever but waking up Christmas morning running into the living room, tripping over the box and face planting is one of my earliest memories and I recall it like it was yesterday. My NES collection is second to that even though I play the NES (or NES games on my 3DS) nearly every day. I'm 42 and have lived through most of the "video game years". I own and regularly play games from just about every system since the late 70's but the games and systems from my youth are what keep me excited to keep going. I do use Everdrives on most of the systems but I keep collecting regardless. The main reason my collection continues grow is that I am a "treasure hunter". I love going to yard sales and thrift shops hunting for neat stuff.bit is just who I am. Wow I typed a lot here... sorry about the long winded response. Keep these videos going man! The part I love the most about my (small) collection are PS2 horror games! I don't have many of them because of the insane prices, but everytime I've bought one I have ended up playing and enjoying everything that game has to offer... As an example I'd put Haunting Ground. I bought it 3 years ago for $120 and I don't regret it at all because I've finished it over 10 times, unlocked everything and overall I think that might be my favorite PS2 game (so far). I really want to get other titles such as Rule of rose, Kuon or Echo Night: Beyond, but prices are just too high for me.

The crown jewel of my SNES collection is my copy of Metal Warriors. This game was the exact same cartridge which I rented multiple times from my local video store during the 90s. When the video store was shutting down I purchased that copy for a cool $10 which included the box (shrink wrapped in mint condition for display purposes). This game has both sentimental and rarity value and is one of the best 2P games I've ever played.

Couple of things I like about my collection is that I got most of it on the cheap thrifting so the satisfaction of getting great games for a killer deal and the idea that anyone can come over at most anytime and find a classic game to play that they enjoy.

I don't collect physical copies of Video Games but rather i do have a nice collection of Emulated Video Games that i have on my phone so i can play my games everywhere i go, and most games tend to be a nice fit for mobile play. Being mostly handheld games i collect, i have games that i played and loved, and some i never got the chance to play. My favourite hanheld consoles that i have games for include the Gameboy Advance, Gameboy/Colour, Game Gear and the Neo Geo Colour. The NGC i didn't play at all back in the day, so having the chance to play these wonderful titles is both nostalgic and contemporary...good times. It's not an extravegant collection by any means, but it's personal to me and i love them. Great video 👍

However, at the end, what matters is that your collection becomes "your collection". It should reflect your tastes and preferences. Your favorite consoles, game genres or game franchises/series. The thing I like most about my collection is that I still have the SNES and copy of A Link to the Past that I first played as a child. It was one of my first memories, playing Zelda with my brother on a little 5 inch TV. And I still own that exact console and cart. I have much more valuable things in my collection now but nothing will ever be more precious than those two items.

I really appreciate what this video had to say, especially in regards of collection size, never felt that matters, and personally I am trying to get maybe a solid 10-20 quality titles that appeal to me on every console that appeals to me, usually starting with RPGs but I will also jump on some occasional good deals and I like every genre to an extent especially unique twists on established genres, I have games in mind that I would like to get and I enjoy spending time looking into a library for a console and making a list of those that I researched to see if it's worth the time and money and picking them up when I can get a decent price, have gotten some high dollar items half their usual price with patience! great video, just found this channel and it might be a rabbit hole and lead to a new subscriber what I look for in my collection is the ability to walk over to my bookshelf, open the case, snap the game out and put it in the corresponding console. When I'm done with the game I like to have the ability to grab the game and marvel at the artwork to vicariously "be" in that world again and recall the joy I had playing it. This is why I love the inside artwork for the Link's Awakening remake, for example, where Link is sleeping on a piece of his raft and it brings me back to Koholint, sitting on the log with Marin, dreading the ending that felt more like a loss than an achievement. The physicality of that is what makes me wish for a future where physical media can coexist with digital but I'm doubtful of that reality so gotta enjoy it now

I really do like how you put that. It really does feel like a collection should be for you. Sometimes I think yeah I have a lot of games but maybe I don't have enough obscure games. But I just get games that I like and am branching out so it's nice to just have the stuff that I want to have My favorite piece in my collection is my virtualboy cuz it's awesome. But my favorite thing about is that I have a lot of 64 and gamecube games. They're definitely the most plentiful part and that makes me happy because I love em so much

Even though I don’t have a specific memory attached to each game in my collection, they all remind me of different times in my life. No idea when exactly I bought Mister Mosquito for PS2, but I remember I was in college, and whenever I see that one on my shelf I’m reminded of a different time and a different version of myself. I have a large collection, but not 4 walls full large. Sounds sappy, but it’s my collection and I love it. And goddamn I wish there were 900 hours in the day for games! Being closer to 40 than 30, two-thirds of the day go to work and sleep. :(

My favorite part of my collection is how it is nearly everything I wanted to get as a child and teen. Do to some stuff out of my control I had a really bad childhood and teen life where at times the only bright spot were these titles and the moments of peace they represented. I'm a lot different in my mind and have always been unable to handle normal life which makes my collecting any rare titles a shiz ton harder and in many ways this hunt has become a life goal in the vein of the sims. It took a very long but I can look at my collection and flip through so many titles that spark good memories and remind me where I came from and where I am now. Damn that got a lot darker than I expected

What I'm most proud of in my collection is how when I was growing up with the gamecube (my 2nd system after the N64), that I managed to get the majority of the first-party Nintendo games (Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc.) which after seeing the prices for those games nowadays, just makes my gamecube collection that much more special to talk about

You're right. It's turned into a pissing contest. I had so many games and I finally realized that I was never going to play half of them. So I trimmed the fat so to speak, and kept the stuff I really adored. Such a nicer and cleaner collection now and much easier to pack when moving.

One thing j love about my collection? All thriller no filler. I own no sports titles outside of WWE/WWF games and even those I only have the 8/16 bit era ones I grew up playing. Every title I own I've played and enjoyed. If I buy a game, and don't enjoy it. It goes away to make room for the next one.

After collecting games over the years, I've noticed that most of my collection is filled with quirky Japanese games that, most of the time, not many people know of. I even bought some for psvr, a system that I don't own. As an artist, I can finally relate to art curators lol, personalizing your collection is important!

As a Switch owner, I've been collecting tons of Switch games in recent years due to how expensive they start to get when they're out of print. Another reason is because I consider the Switch to be the most diverse of all Nintendo systems. More than the SNES(Grew up with that), and more than the Gamecube. Some games that I have never even got a release on a Nintendo system(Until now). Others celebrate the legacy of gaming itself with many of these classics now populating the Nintendo Switch. I even have games from Limited Run in my collection, as well as one from Super Rare and one from Strictly Limited.

My favorite thing about my collection is the Super Nintendo games that came from my Grandpa. My copy of Link to the Past still has his save file in which he made it all the way to the end of the game and needed me to beat Ganon.

I've found enjoyment in my collection by including games I loved as a kid, and a few that I wanted, but didn't have. Like BattleToads and Aliens Ate my Neighbors. Loved them as a kid. Also games like Conkers Bad Fur Day... Always wanted, but just added to my collection. I also include different genres, for variety, and because I truly like all kinds of games. Even sports games. Just added Rocket Knight to my Genesis collection... Thanks for recommending this game. It is awesome.

If I were forced to get rid of all my consoles except one, the one I'd keep would be the GameCube. It has the most sentimental value for me and it's the one console I can truly say that I can have a good time with any game no matter what it is. I know the Wii is backwards compatible, opening up two game libraries instead of just one, but it just isn't the same as playing on the original purple lunchbox. I'm that gamer that if I'm in a thrift store and I see a GameCube game I don't have I always grab it just because I love the system so danged much.

As for a good collection, my original one was huge before I had to sell it off -- since restarting it a couple years back I've been much more focused on specific, important titles and systems that I mean to play and replay for years to come and I gotta say, I'm enjoying it a heck of a lot more than going for notables and deals. My favorite thing about my current collection has to be my original Gameboy + Battletoads cause it's both something I've had my whole life AND something I replay regularly.

Thank you for the CRT filming props. It took a lot of work to get it to where it is now :) Also, I think Battletoads for Game Boy is underrated. Most people don't realize it's different from the NES game. Oddly, the Ragnarok Battletoads game is more similar to the NES version.

This sounds kooky but I have a small tote for each system I own filled with games. Only so many can fit in the toe and if I want another game after the tote is filled I have to sell one to make room for the next. This has made kind of like a top 25 or however many will fit. It has automatically become a personal greatest hits of games I love to play and the top 25 or however much rarely changes. It prevents me from hoarding and takes up a small amount of space since I can stack the totes. This might make me sound weird but it's my system. Love your channel.

What I love the most about my videogame collection is how much fun I can have with all the games I missed when I was a kid because of money limitations, I don't own every game I want to play but I've experienced most of them so far and that's the best thing about it, not the value of some of them. It's more valuable the fun and enjoyment than what the market says about some of these games, yes you can play any game (not sure every game) by emulation, but talking about collections is playing them on real original hardware, that's the experience!!!!!

The most precious games I own are my original Spyro trilogy. They're not worth as much ae some of my other stuff, but Spyro 2 was the first game I was really drawn into as a child. One Christmas my aunt and uncle brought their Playstation over to my grandparent's place and I spent half the time experimenting with it. They decided to give me the system and three or four games, and from there it became a lifelong passion. I came to love games from all systems, across all generations. My grandfather got me into PC gaming later with Half-life and Carnivores, and he gave me his copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 and a huge SNES collection. He got me into more of the adult type of games like shooters and stuff with deeper character story elements. I was really lucky to have a generous, game-loving family, and I plan to hold onto these games for life. My younger brothers all love playing them, especially Ghost n Goblins and Super Metroid. Theyre just as obsessed as me now. A part of me is collecting for them and my friends as well. I want everyone to share in the experience, so I loan them stuff a lot. So sometimes I'll buy games I'm not personally all that interested in, so my friends or brothers can try em out. I've ended up liking a lot of stuff I didn't expect to that way. I bought one of the Persona fighting games because a friend wanted to try it, and now it's one of my all-time favorite series. A lot of bargain bin stuff was pretty fun too. I think people should be willing to go out on a limb like that. You'd be surprised how many fun games fly under the radar, even beyond 'obscure classic' lists. Cheapness, weirdness, and low ratings, can sometimes hide the true worth of a game.

Hi Retro Bird. I really enjoyed your video above. For me, I've evolved over time, to the point to where I love basically all console games. Sure, I have favorites, but then again, I can appreciate most any other games and genres as well. It is a good and, I suppose for some, bad place to be in. I made a decision a long time ago to collect only for the US market, because I knew that it had more than enough already for me to collect. With time, I was able to find and buy the majority of the games I had wanted, which was close to 2,000 games. At this point in time, I realized that I wanted more, and thus, I continued the journey of adding every game I could to what is now the Console Purist Museum. The museum has over 10,700 games with 309 consoles and 31 complete console libraries. I collect for every console library that has been released in the US and also have thousands of gaming paraphernalia, complete magazine sets, and so on. Gaming for me truly became something I appreciated more and more with time. At first, I didn't care at all for the majority of the sports games for instance, but with time, I started to truly like most of them, as well as most every other genre and type of game. Today, my favorite genre's are Adventure, Beat'em Up, RPG, shoot'em up's and FPS's, but I truly love basically every genre. I have every console released in the US, besides some Pong consoles and the Entex Adventurevision and I hope to add that one day. Either way, I'd love to hear your thoughts on collecting and how many games and consoles you have yourself.

I have most of the main consoles from the NES up until now. For some, I only have a handful of games. For some of my favorite consoles (like SNES and Genesis) I have more. I try to think about all the games I have overall and not just what I have for a specific console when adding games.

I think the favorite thing about my collection is just the time and attention I put towards curating it. Especially my Sega stuff, which I wanted to re-acquire due to the sentimental attachment I had with Sega as a young adult. Before I decided to start restoring my Sega collection, I only had my original copies of Outrun (SMS), John Madden Football, and Lakers vs. Celtics and the NBA Playoffs - all in as good a condition as when I bought them all those years ago. Not only did I get the same version consoles I had CIB (SMS with Hang-On/Safari Hunt pack-in and The Model 1 Genesis with Altered Beast pack-in), but I regained my original game collections for each and more! The collections themselves aren’t huge, but every one is conplete in case with manual, and EVERY clam shell still has the hang tab! I’m quite proud of that, hehe.

First off, I just discovered your channel and have watched through about 20-30 of your videos. Lovin' it! Thanks for all the great content! As for what I like most about my collection: I have a glass cabinet that I have dedicated to Doom games/figures/helmets/stuff. Trying to track down a copy of each console/pc release of the original Doom for the display. Currently I have Doom on PS1, Saturn, 32X, Atari Jaguar, and a cart only copy on SNES. Just need the box/contents for SNES, and CIB copies for GBA, 3DO, and original PC Shareware release. I guess I am also very happy with how organized and clean I have been able to get my collection, though I am still working through opening all my NES and SNES carts to give them a good cleaning (the ones I purchased before I got serious about everything being super clean). Sitting for an afternoon, removing grime, stickers, marker, and opening carts to clean pins is super satisfying. Also plan to get my hands on a soldering iron and other equipment to begin maintaining and repairing consoles. Gotta keep 'em all alive and well!

I think my collection has reached its ideal size, not too big, not too small. I currently own 4 consoles (NES, SNES, N64, SMS) and about 430 games, so I always have new games to try but I can still revisit games I've already beaten. I want to acquire a deep knowledge of my games, and if you own too many you will never have the time to play them all, or you will just enjoy them in a superficial way

My favorite part of my collection is my 100% Sega Saturn STG (shooting games - not calling them shmups) set. It was the first thing I really set out to get ALL of. As one of my favorite genres, and the Saturn having the best of the best in my opinion, it's the crown jewel of my collection!

Honestly, what make my collection special to me is that it's games/ series that I deeply enjoy. I love my rpg games and always stumbling across an game that you never heard of before. I usually have a set of rules of what game that it going to be on my shelf and going to be playing. I have 8 different Shelf that have different franchise that I love. Pokemon, Dragon quest, persona, Kingdom Heart and lots more

The thing I love most about my collection is my PS1 games, and I am grateful to have them. If I had to pick a few items to save from a fire though, it would specifically be my signed copies of Silent Hill 1&3, my childhood PS1 games, and my Persona games.

In general, I like that my collection doesn’t have any filler and that I intend to beat or at least thoroughly enjoy each game. One part of my collection is really special to me, though. My dad and uncle had an snes as children, and they loved the games they had. One day, after my uncle moved out of my grandfather’s house, I was looking through the old stuff he left behind. Under his bed, I find an old shoebox with all of their games. This is how I got my copies of Super Mario World, Link to the Past, DKC 1 2 and 3, Mario Paint, Yoshi’s Island, and Super Mario RPG (along with a Donkey Kong Country Nintendo Player’s Guide). I don’t have an snes yet, but I can’t wait to get one and see if their save files are still there.
