Cole, Ye, 40 and so many other greats wouldn't be as great if they just used the go to sounds everyone uses. An artist like 40 for example wouldn't give two shits about a snare's name because they would make a creative but "trash" snare fit in such a way that any other go to snare would sound disjointed in comparison with the context of the song. Then a week goes by and everyone is selling a kit with a remake of that same "trash" snare in it. Crazy tbh how we promote using the same sounds so much "beat is hard, but you'd be better off with this or that snare." like na bro, maybe you just need some different plugins on the fx chain, then you'd have something that makes other producers ask for the name of the snare, knowing that mfer can never have it because you engineered it, you didn't find it in a kit. Things like this is what separates the greats from the average. Good video bro, really made me think differently about sound selection.
