Dear men of God and fathers in the ministry of Christ, Evan. Gbile Akanni and Dr. Ben Gyunka: I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your sermons. May the Father God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ continue to increase you. I am a little troubled by your message centered on Samson, "What makes men fall is not a respecter of any person." I love the passion and enthusiasm with which you delivered the message. But while I agree that this was a powerful message, it was devoid of scriptural truth. 1st Samson was called by God and empowered for a specific task; God's mandate for him was to begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines - Judges 13:1-5 (Note verse 5). 2nd Samson indeed began with the task - Judges 14:1-4. 3rd. Samson accomplished all that God called him to do. Please see Judges 15:1-20 and note verse 20. Finally, Samson met his death by reposing his truth in Delilah. Might he have lived much longer? We do not know. Yes, he told her his secret. And she used it against him. But the trust is this, Samson finished his task. Yours truly,

Samson did a great job in his role, but he fell into the same pit that many great men of God and prophets do, which often leads to their missions and calls being truncated untimely: disobedience to divine instruction. One thing to keep in mind is that while God may call you and provide you with the resources to fulfill your assignment, He does not control your will. He allows you to choose whether to follow His instructions fully or partially, which can impact your effectiveness in His service. Moses, for instance, fell into this pit of disobedience and had his mission interrupted. Jonah also faced consequences for his disobedience, but God’s mercy spared him. Many other great men and women of God experienced similar challenges, but time and space don’t allow for all the examples. Samson knew God's will for him and the conditions of his Nazarite vow, but he chose to break the laws, including shaving his hair. Remember, King Saul was rejected for disobedience. Shouldn't Samson also face similar consequences? While Saul never reached a point of genuine repentance and thus was not restored, Samson had the opportunity to cry out to the Lord for forgiveness and restoration, and he received God's mercy. There are many lessons to learn from these examples. One key takeaway is that disobedience will always separate us from God and can truncate any call or mission, regardless of its magnitude. May we learn from these examples and strive to remain obedient to God's instructions. God bless you.
