So sorry for your loss , my dads fiesta is in for a total Respray, he loved the car it was his pride and joy, he drove it everywhere every day until around the age of 85 , then handed the keys to me and said I’m finished driving, so it’s staying in the family and will be proudly presented outside my house beside my jaguar and triumph spitfire Coventry,

Mine was a 1963 1500. Reg 400LWC. EX Ford Motor Company vehicle first run by the Body Chief Engineers wife, complete with individual rear seats made in the Prototype Trim shop. Bought in 1968 4th hand within Ford Body Engineering, sold in 1973 for £90! after 60k miles myself. Lots of mods like ‘69 Capri face level vents tapped off the heater box, Wooller remote gearshift, mk 2 Cortina handbrake, GT camshaft etc. lots of fun, never failed, just changed wear items like roll bar bushings using 2 jacks.

@ just one taken by neighbour who worked for Ilford Cameras, not clear how to add it in YT. Many years later driving down A12, we came up behind a blue Capri. I pointed out to my children ‘car like the red one we used to have’. My wife pointed out it had the same registration! We pulled it over, invited the owner to our home and handed over the 5 star grill, underdash handbrake, original gear lever and loads of odd bits. He had just been offered £3k for it and certainly it was in better condition than when I passed it on. He had removed most of my ‘improvements’ to get it back to standard including scrapping the trim shop rear seats.

My dad had a 1963 maroon and grey Classic from new. Two door 1500 engine with the five bearing crank. I loved it. He traded it in in 1967 for a new Ford Corsair. Nowhere near as good!

These are such cool, unusual cars. I remember my neighbour had a maroon Ford Classic when I was young - that's the 4 door saloon version. It's great how today there are so many connections between the owners. Hard to pick a favourite - but it's probably the yellow one for me.

Yes difficult to choose , but I’m looking forward to seeing the Hooper complete as we are going to back to film that later this year 👍

@Classiccarstories. Thank for your work on this very interesting video. Regarding Hooper - is that the same company that used to make bodies/coachbuild for Rolls Royce in days of yore? I would be interested to know if any or all of these Ford Capris have their original factory fitted engines. Thanks again. Stay safe and well. Happy New Year!

The mother of one of my classmates at school drove a Consul Capri. Remember thinking at the time what a cool car it was. I was only about 6 or 7 at the time and compared to my dad's Hillman Minx Estate ...... well there was no comparison. Something about the Consul Capri must have stuck in my imagination because my first car was a Consul Classic, next best thing. In the mid-70's the Capris were like hens teeth. Whenever and if ever Lee sorts out the automatic example and if he wants to then sell it I would be very interested in buying it. just reached retirement age so looking for a new toy. Can't think of a better car to have as my last set of wheels. (Bit old to get back on a Norton with my hips! A bit difficult getting my leg over. No sniggering at the back of the class!!!!!!}

@Classiccarstories It was 1972 when I bought it and 1974 when I sold it.

The original Capri was best and most stylish car Ford UK ever produced bar none. The follow up, mk2 or whatever you want to call it was a very poor imitation and never should have been given the same name.

@ClassiccarstoriesThe original design for the 69 Capri had an upswept rear quarter window with little visibility out for rear seat passengers. One evening late 1967 I was sent to a meeting in the body prototype shop in the Design & Engineering Centre (Dunton) to observe a discussion to fix this. Various ideas like port holes but eventually the designer ( stylist to us) drew a large circle in chalk on a body side and refined it to the production concept. Someone commented that it looked like ‘the old Consul Capri’. No more was said, the body engineers changed the bodyside, the badge engineer developed several name concepts in secret, the final ‘Capri’ was seen on the late pre-production cars in September 1968.
