Great vid! Extreme veteran here with just a couple of tips. First and foremost, melee than jump pack. It's great for on foot travel. Once you start upgrading your exo-suit you'll only go further and faster. Secondly, scan everything. Every item scanned earns you instant cash. Once again, the more you upgrade your scanner in the multi-tool, the more money you make.

I've only been playing for about a week and I think the planets don't seem empty...i bought the game with the intention of playing solo but soon after my friends got curious and joined . i like how each individual player can play their own save on your multiplayer world on their own choice of difficulty. the first wow moment for me was when we got our ships fully operational then went to space soon after random ships hyper jumped out of nowhere putting us in a space battle which blew my mind . cant wait to discover new things as i continue to learn about the game

I just started playing 2 weeks ago, and I am hooked. Like all I want to do is play this game and neglect all other things in my life!!! Of course, I can't do that as I have dinner to cook, dogs to look after, you know, the life is worth living kind of stuff. Anyway........it was my daughter that recommended NMS, and she knows my gaming style well. She also plays, and has been my own personal Wiki! She joins me in game occasionally, but we both like to play solo mainly. The planets are just so creative, I love collecting ships (when I have the money), I love building bases! I've played over 2800 hours total. You were asking about the types of planets you could start on. All starting planets are hazardous in some way, Eradiated, Frozen, Hot or Poisonous. Nice video, I just started the game 1 week ago as well without much info on it, was very pleasantly surprised ! The world does feel empty but I mean it's space I don't expect intelligent life on every planet, and it's huge so the chances of finding another player are very thin. The story so far is very interesting also ! A small tip : you can recharge the multi tool, exocombination and ship from the quick menu (X), much quicker especially for the life support.

I can see how dumbing down the difficulty can make it feel redundant for veterans, on the other hand it makes it less intimidating for new players like me. Always hard to balance those kind of things. Is the endgame at least still a challenge ?

Don't worry about "butchering names" of things or creatures. I know they sound like scientific latin but they are all made my a random name finding machine - means they are not really existant in RL. Thus said - you can't butcher anything no matter how you pronouce it! Finding copper (or any other resources): Use your scanner with pressing F and check all the icons popping up. In case the planet told you it has copper when you scanned it from space, then you will see the copper places by using F and even how far they're ahead.

Welcome to one of the best games I have ever played. It has been many years for sure, but this is one everyone should try. I have been playing it off and on for about 4 years now and I have to say, this new update is incredible. They have added so much over the years that you can really pick your niche and just play the style you want. Combat, exploration, building, missions, crafting, pet collecting, ship collecting, whatever. BTW, you can change the setting for how the ship follows the mouse in the options, which does make it more snappy.

Long time player here but playing the recent Expedition with the ship given, and man it reminded me the beginning ships are terrible to fly. not really, just haven't played for a long time so figured I would check it out. Controls are still the clunkiest of any games. missions, objectives, tasks are vague, ambiguous. Ground and space battle mechanics are terrible and because of controls clunkiest takes the fun out of it. The traveler is glitched out so you can't get the second glyph, leaving to you to have to follow the story line and grind it out, which because of mission ambiguity, you could be going down the wrong mission and not realize it cuz the highlighted mission tracker makes up its own mind as to where you need to go. Most games have system wide scanners, nope, you have to manually scan each planet. Weather sync issue when multiplying with friends. No planet maps, no easy system maps, the galaxy map should swing out to a system map first THEN go to a galactic map if you want to expand. Galactic filter is basic. online connection is broke most days, can't teleport to other people's bases. Should be a HUD for your ship when in 3rd person so I don't have to keep going to 1st person just to see what is on radar. OH AND, no JOYSTICK SUPPORT!?!?! NMS as seen a resurgence for sure, but it will die down and return to normal levels when everyone realizes the game basics have not been adjusted for better playability.

All valid points I believe, luckily it seems that the devs are not going to abandon the game anytime soon so there is still hope some if not all of those points might get addressed.
@karlmurunga88652 ай бұрын
Some of these issues can be solved by just progressing the game ....system wide scan is a thing you unlock once you have a freighter for example....as for planet maps .....they do exist ..... they're just for finding points of interest instead of having you wander around all day .the game cant have a map for each and every planet.....as for a third person hud ....i mean you're viewing it from outside .... realistically speaking it shouldn't have a hud 🤣....maybe im coping ..idk ....i dont mind it honestly ......as for the mission thing.....all you have to do is press one button and see what mission is selected .....🤔
@IamHallford2 ай бұрын

Sorry, you sound like you've never given the game a chance past beginner play. Half of what you complain about unlocks with progressing the game. The other half seems like personal gripes. Considering the history of the game and the developer, and the constant free updates... I don't see what is amazing that people continue to discover the game and share their experiences. That is what happens when you release expansions to a game. The fact that it is FREE to those who own the game is the rare cherry on the top in the gaming industry. What is actually amazing is how no one else in the industry has learned from Hello Games, who still make money on the base game selling because they continue to support and improve the game. No paid DLCs or Microtransactions in sight.
@IamHallford2 ай бұрын
@@harperion2492 You're 100% right, the fact no other developers bothers to do what Hello Games does is mind boggling. Clearly it works and they are still making money.
@ProgrammistMusic2 ай бұрын
@@harperion2492 i think one of the reasons is, that Hello Games did make a ton of money as an indie studio when the game was released and they knew, that their reputation was totally gone and nobody would be buying another game from them. So with that money they had, they decided to invest it fixing the existing game and turn around the table. And one very important reason is a personal one. Sean Murray put his life into this game. He had a vision of what this game could be, but he and his team were not able to deliver that in time. I am running my own business company and i pretty much live my dream for the most part and i won't give up on that until i die. There is a very strong personal motivation involved here and in most cases, after such a desaster launch, it does not work turning the tabel but Hello Games luckily did. Many other (major) companies do work different. Studios like Bethesta do have a much bigger team and multiple times more production costs are involved here. Those companies most likely do need micro transactions to create enough income and finance the next game or any future updates.
