Legend. The man traversed the history of jazz. How great that he endured this long. Jimmy was playing Blue Note and Smalls up til quite recently. Kind of Blue is the perfect album in many ways. It's timeless and impossible to grow weary of. Sketches is so moody. Full House is a great album. The title track is awesome, but I really love S.O.S. Jimmy's uptempo ride is sweet--I like how he always was in that space btw'n the triplet and the quarter note. Very sensitive player, but also really called out the quarter note. Thanks for giving the drummer some, Rick! Jimmy is important.

He was there as part of the International Association of Jazz Educators Annual Conference. It was absolutely life changing for me. Every performance I saw was phenomenal from The Yellowjackets to Renee Rosnes to John Pattitucci Group, Dave Weckl Band, Oscar Peterson, Benny Green & Russell Malone.... so many other legends. Meeting Mr. Cobb was a very casual thing. He was very pleasant to all of us present. The whole event is something I’ll never forget for as long as I live. Thank you for this video. There's soooo many different stylings of jazz from the early New Orleans sound of the late 19th century across the Swing era of the 30s to the atonal Free Jazz stylings of the 60s through the Jazz Rock and Fusion of the 70s up to contemporary Jazz that encompasses all of these styles and mixes them with whatever influences and instrumentation the composer, band, artist likes. It is unlikely that you dislike all of them :)

@@bernhardkrickl3567, the New Orleans, Swing era, & smooth jazz are the among jazz that i can digest easily. While the rest of the styles probably, i may have to develop good hearing sense to appreciated them.
