The other thing is that Alex Turner is really using those flats at times when it’s not expected to add a whole other level of depth to the mix. It’s like your brain expects it to go one way in the scale and he throws his voice up and down to get those unexpected hits. Matt Helders’ range is also insane, good luck finding very many guys who can hit those notes consistently. Such a dope song from an excellent band, loved the breakdown H.

Something else I noticed is that the song really builds on itself, it’s almost like a really long crescendo that lulls but isn’t the same every time, they could have said “that’s good enough, let’s just copy and paste that for verse 2 and chorus 2” instead the song gives you a feeling of an improvisational tone, very similar to how musicians change songs from their recordings live. It gives the whole song a feel of having been recorded all in one shot as if they’re playing it together live in the studio. And of course it builds to the end when the tonic really hits for those last notes that trail out.

In terms of vocals, besides duplicating tracks + backing vocals and adding a 'slap delay', do you think they apply a little distortion in certain parts or it's the EQ that gives almost that vintage 'telephone' effect?

Could be, I can definitely hear more distortion in the main vocal, but it's very possible that backing vocals have it as well but less

@@HofTheStage i figured it out my way! Besides the slap delay, I added a plug-in that gives a subtle "lo-fi" effect that emulates that type of distortion on the vocals!
