Of course it's a thing! Universities and colleges teach infosec too.

It really depends on which of those you chose. eg in Italy you can start studying "Systems" (name of the subject/course) and then specialize in analysis. or in Canadians colleges there are 3-4 year programs focused on programming analysis which can be integrated with some on-field work and a "zipped" course of few months in malware analysis. It's really your choice in the end :)
