OK, I am not sure why my comment disappeared, it wasn't meant to be controversial. It only points out that vitamin C and retinol don't go well with UV exposure and so are best used from October to early March and that afterwards niacinamide does a good job. As for my Perricone MD, I wasn't flexing, I get it from TKMaxx and it is reduced there from £129 to £22. You should know by now that I am a champagne tastes on beer money sort of gal!

@@Kiyan3100 Yeah, I do wear SPF, but I still choose not to use retinol after March until late September, just to be on the safe side. Niacinamide is good for multiple problems and can help reduce acne scarring, but is incompatible with acids, so it makes sense to use it in the summer instead of retinol/vitamin C. A friend of mine had laser treatment for acne scarring and I nearly did not recognise her, it was that good. Yet I had laser treatment for facial hair and it was not permanent as claimed.

@@banana9106 idk it depends, I hear people say it's ok to add niacimide (or known as b3) w vit c n retinol no problem, I'd have to ask what people at ulta think, thanks for the insight though

@@Kiyan3100 Niacinamide is NOT the same thing as niacin, it is derived from it, but it is not the same thing. Some chemicals just don't react well together. These are relatively complex chemicals with plenty of reactive sites. Don't know how much chemistry you've done. But look at say sodium, highly reactive silvery metal and chlorine pungent green gas, also very reactive. Put them together and you get common salt, not very reactive and being white and crystalline looks nothing like either of its constituent parts. If manufacturers are saying certain products should not be mixed it is probably because they have tried to mix those components themselves to make different products and discovered that they react and the new compound does not have any of the actions of the 2 original chemicals. One more bit of advice. Be careful what you use around your eyes because your eyelids contain meibomian glands that secrete oil directly into the eye itself. I know that sounds weird, but that oil floats on top of your tears and stops the eye itself from drying out. The skin layer on the eyelid is very thin and so stuff is easily absorbed, you need to be careful not to apply anything harsh that could disrupt the function of the meibomian glands.

Retinol has studies to back up its benefits, depends on what type of skin you have. If you wanna do it start out in small doses to build up tolerance so it doesn't shock your skin too much
