I'm unfortunately a Denver Broncos fan, so it kills me to say this.... Patrick Mahomes seems to be not only a once in a generation talent, but also a really good human. He's still just a kid and the amount of money he's making makes most turn into horrible people, but Patrick has seemed to stay grounded and to me, that's more important than his on field performance. I really hope he stays that way and doesn't turn into a douchenozzle!

@misterdeeds21722 жыл бұрын
Want to know what I find "funny"? That the term 'bad' is used to describe a season in which a goes 12 and 5 with a QB who gains almost 5K in yardage through the air, throws 37 TD's against 13 Int's, completed 66.3% of passing attempts. won his division, survived two playoffs, putting on one hell of a display in the second game, and made it to the conference championship game. That's a 'bad' year? Having been a Chiefs fan since they came to town in 1963 I can tell you this is nothing like a 'bad' season. For decades I prayed for such a season. Of course, most of the time my prayers went unanswered. The Chiefs season last year may not have been stellar, but it sure as hell wasn't 'bad', either. Only the most jaded fan would use that term so inappropriately. I don't mean to sound contrary, but dude, you have been spoiled and have no idea just how bad bad can be. You're like the guy complaining to someone who went for weeks without anything to eat and you just ate an hour ago.

I loved watching everyone criticize the chiefs for making this pick back then. It was no secret to those who really know football or just talent, that Mahomes was not just a QB with a big arm. I watched a lot of Texas Tech game(gambled too😂) which made me realize he was built different than the other QBs that were so hyped. He just needed the right coach to ease him into the starter role. Mahomes was the best in KC. Bruce Arians literally retired cause he couldn’t get Mahomes. He stated there’s one QB in that draft he wanted and when Mahomes was off the board, the chiefs didn’t draft a whole and that was his last year in Arizona.

Great offense but zero defense? Hell, isn’t that typical Big 12 football? I did think the first clip in this video was funny where he said he didn’t believe in the “passing system of the Big 12” when the air raid came from the big 12 and the NFL has scrambled to get those air raid schemes into their playbooks. Hell, an NFL team hired Kilff Kingsbury and he wasn’t getting anything done as a college coach. The only reason to hire him is because of what he knows about air raid and how to get a QB some big numbers.

Count me amongst those who typically have no confidence in air raid college quarterbacks. While his physical gifts are exceptional, what makes him transcendent is his brain. In his first year as a starter, he was doing the football equivalent of playing music by ear. He really didn't understand NFL coverages, fronts, and schemes, but he intuitively knew how to manipulate them and beat them. Now, with the benefit of experience, coaching, and a little maturity, he does understand those things. That makes him all the more frightening. Next, he doesn't seem to understand the concept of pressure. The big moment doesn't scare him. In any walk of life, that is an exceptionally rare quality. Finally, he doesn't dwell on mistakes on those few occasions he makes them. You don't see him slam his helmet after an interception, or argue with teammates or coaches. He doesn't rattle. Also, exceptionally rare. Honestly, before the 2018 season, I couldn't have picked Patrick Mahomes out of a police lineup. I don't watch Big 12 football, and don't sit glued to the NFL draft. Now, he's playing quarterback better than anyone's ever played the position. It's pretty damn impressive.

He definitely has the ability to “break the mold” but it’s hard to think of scrambling QB’s that got a lot done by extending plays with their feet as being up there with the all time greats that had long and illustrious careers. People in these comments are acting like he’s gonna be the GOAT one day like we aren’t still watching the real GOAT getting more rings in his 40’s! With all that said in regards to kelce gushing over mahomes, keep in mind kelce wasn’t pleased when smith got traded. He said, “it doesn’t make sense”. Glad kelce came around. Hill called Patrick, “trash”. Let’s applaud Patrick’s maturity to not let those statements transpire into petty drama.

It’s not like Hill said it to a reporter or anything. He might not have said it to anyone at all and just thought it to himself. So, I don’t think you can really give Mahomes a lot of credit for avoiding a scandal when there was never a scandal to avoid.

KC fan who moved to Denver in 2015. I was at that game and have never missed KC in Denver since. Was super excited for him to get his chance and had been lobbying for him to be the starter, based on what I was hearing about him in practice. The funny part about that game is they took him out of the game up 14 points in the 4th Q. The Broncos tied it up late so KC put Mahomes back into the game, and he promptly drove them down for the winning FG 😂😂😂 the legend begins.

I remember when i first watched Mahomes in a bowl game and he chucked a TD and flexed his muscles. Year later watching regular season college game Texas Tech vs Oklahoma, Mayfield and Mahomes both combined had over 1,200 passing yards, one of the most entertaining offensive shootout Ive seen but I remember just seeing Mahomes play and was like wow he has talent, good awareness and very strong arm power. Then the draft comes later I remember seeing him get Drafted live and saying “Thats a good pick, watch he is going to be something for the Chiefs” to my brothers and wow was I right and happy seeing him start and getting all the attention for how good he is.

Living in KCMO area and being a Chiefs fan for decades has had it's ups and downs with the latter being the majority. And while every new season showed promise like acquiring Joe Montana or being a dominant defense with Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith, it always seemed to be missing that X factor. Mahomes quickly changed that and made me realize that before he came along, I was a borderline, fair weather fan. Now, even if the games outcome is a loss for the Chiefs, I can't wait to see the next game.

I was so impressed at what I saw I was like I’m drafting him in my fantasy league next year. I do a auction draft so it was only me and another guy bidding on him. I lost the bidding because it was getting crazy. Let’s say I was really upset I didn’t keep bidding that year. He’s already had a better career then Rodgers in the playoffs. I’m from Kansas and I’ve been a fan of Mahomes since day one! The beginning of this video highlights his strengths so well. However, something everyone needs to understand too is that he has a great team to work with. Many weapons on his offense and a world class coach! I also believe that his baseball background makes his passing ability unique and effective. Mahomes is amazing but there is so much that goes into the many reasons why he is on top of the league that I don’t think a lot of people understood before he was drafted.

My take after watching this. They all want to corral Mahomes and make him fit their mold for the quaterback position, they see him making throws outside the pocket and say its flashy but undesirable. He didn't amaze anyone. But Mahomes breaks the qb structure and is able to throw accurately in and outside the pocket because he's agile and has strength in his back and lower back to make the throws. Now there's method to his madness and he's proven his value everyone's trying to copy his success. Draft analysts need to take note, its not about drafting the best of the winningest qb's in college they might not have much headroom to improve or even much drive to improve as they're already the best of their class in their own minds. But perhaps drafting good players with exceptional talent with lots of room and drive to improve is better. AKA the best mentality, he had the mindset from day 1 that he was going to learn everything KC desired of him from the QB coach to every one of his team mates. People were counting him out this year saying that he was rushing his progressions and not having enough trust in his players to make big plays. What did Mahome's do, he got right to fixing that, the trust issues are gone and he's headed to the super bowl again. You can never count this man out.

Also everyone was doubting Herbert as well including myself. I’m done judging qbs based on their college performance.
