But they also have the most manageable roster as far as unloading a contract if needed, other then Eric Johnson, nobody is really on a bad deal. I don’t think it would be that hard for them to unload a guy and retool the bottom six. Detroit did it for a decade in the cap era.

Wild and Avs Wild are boned next year with the cap since they have 12.7 million in cap being eaten up in contract buyouts and that hit gets worse for 2023-2024. They have a back up goalie that is in his mid 30's, had a down year and is due for a new contract likely looking to make 4 million next season. Add in an additional 6 UFA's and 5 RTA's worth 17 million this year, and those numbers are only going to go up. Avs have been top of the league for years, but struggle making it past the 2nd round. Expectations are high, and if they get bounced early again it will be nothing but disappointment.
