Just some clips pointing out some potential flaws I noticed in Timber in matches vs better teams (Liverpool, Dortmund, Benfica, France). There is another video linked at the end if you want to see the good side of Timber vs those teams.

I dont understajnd the video??? I can make a identicle video on any player in the world. Even the biggest and strongest header of the ball losses headers sometimes. Showing a clip of a player losing 4 or 5 headers but winning 4 or 5 headers means nothing to anyone. You could make an identical video on any CB in the world.

Exactly this. He’s got a high ceiling and has all the necessary ingredients to become a top class player all round, if not world class. It’s not too dissimilar to Stones who Pep signed from Everton and had everyone scratching they heads back then, well, not scratching their heads now ‘cause Stones is a legit world class student of the game.

@2.29 when Halland muscles him, he did great if he went to ground there he leaves the goal open for a shot which Holland wants but he stays up on his feet and narrows the angle. I have seen many defenders get steam rolled go down and then leaves Halland an open goal this season

I love that he has already gone up against some of the best players in the world already at 22. Haaland, Osimhem, Salah, Darwin, Gakpo. He looks like he can hold his own as well. Might not be a cb in the prem primarily though.

nice vid, still remember you doing something like this for gabriel (at lille) vs chelsea. gabi is a good reference point here because he displayed quite a few flaws in the games i watched from him at lille and look at him now, imperial. in comparison, timber (who was unlike gabriel actually scouted by arteta) looks further along the road, imo.

Seems like his defensive weaknesses can be summed up in one phrase: "he overcommits himself". He seems to end up with all his weight to one side earlier than he needs to, so can be susceptible to getting turned/beaten by a bit of skill, etc. He'd do well to look at Tomiyasu's body positioning in one-on-one defending, in terms of how he holds his centre of balance in order to change direction/make a tackle when the opportunity presents itself.

Arteta will be using him mainly as an inverted right back like Zinchenko (to the left). I believe Arteta cares more about their passing ability, ball caring in the midfield, long passes, and dribbling . Zinchenko isn’t the best defender either but Arteta chooses him over Tierney, who is a much better defender, for those mentioned skills and abilities.

very good analysis man ,,,,,,i think his issue is he over commits a bit on tackles and movement but it is easily fixed and he seems to be a hard worker that can make a significant improvement , good catch on the weight shift as will the issue with that is defenders lean one side to force the attacker to go the other side where they can catch the ball with the leg but if its a good attacker and notices that the defender is left dead thanks for the vid

Luckily we have a 6′ 3″ and 6′ 4″ beast for some of these situation. Once can assume at this point he wont be signing as a center back. White 6′ 1″ was a cb originally, incase of injuries we might see White in those positions and Timber inverting from the right.

I like his agressiveness. For a lot of players they either have it or they don't. Arteta can mold him into a better player like we've seen with Gabriel. Gabriel was making some boneheaded mistakes and overly aggressive but he tempered it enough where he is no longer a liability, yet still productively aggressive. Gabriel this season has played better than Saliba.

Good video, But keeping in mind if you did this for every defender, you are going to see similar flaws. Gabriel Made similar errors just last season, and he's still our best Defender at Arsenal.

I guess you have to have played the game to know a 5’ 10” guy vs a 6’ 4” is a tougher job, but 100% can be done. Timber wins the battle of positioning himself prior to the aerial dual and wins most of the duals below the waist. Not every 6’ 4” guy is of erling haaland standard (ex peter crouch)

Love it. I've been vocal on his weaknesses that Arsenal fans should be aware of. Have some concerns about his physicality to engage in duel against physical freaks as a CB and to recover as a traditional RB. I think the best way to utilize his ability is to play him as an inverted RB to provide support for Rice and Odegaard.

Some clips are very old like 2 seasons ago. At least show us more from recent games. ANY player got flaws in them because they are playing against good players and teams. Its about how consistent you can be at the very highest level against the very best. He will not be the first choice but hes a great backup for cups and when we need to rest players. The level in practice goes up another level too with new top signings like him. Arsenal will only benefit of having a great player in the team. Everyone now including Balogun and Eddie to be even better in training to do something

This is a load of guff. Highlighting that a 5'11" defender is susceptible to getting beaten in the air by attackers who are physically superior in stature standing between 6:2" and 6'5" is hardly groundbreaking. This is pretty much a rehash of when it was wrongly assumed that we wanted Martinez to play center back for us as a replacement for Magalhaes, instead of at full back where prowess in the air is less of and essential requirement.
