The thing which separates IITs with all the other colleges is it's research facilities. Most IIT profs have v good reputation in the academia world afaik...

Only in IIT Hyderabad proper world class research happens. They focus more in actual research oriented syllabus and development. Rest all iit's just reserach on papers and hype nothing else. Ask this to any iit alumini or professors they will say the same.
