Hi I sent couple of emails to the consulate because school had resumed and registration was going to close soon but I had not gotten my visa. I also sent emails to my school to let them know the state of things.

No, you do not, as long as you can prove that you’ve been studying in English. Getting a proof of English proficiency from your uni or high school will do.
