Moving and living in Mexico can be exciting! The weather is amazing, the cost of living is low compared to other countries and people are very warm and welcoming! But there are other things that no one tells you when you move and live abroad.
Stay tuned in this video because I will tell you some things that you need to take into consideration when moving to Mexico or any other country.
If you like my work, buy me a coffee (Sometimes I stay awake until very late to finish a video)

Nice video! My husband and I have an intercultural relationship as well. He is from India and I am from the USA. We adore Mexico and want to start spending winters there soon. I speak some Spanish and am going to immersion school in Oaxaca in February because I really want to improve! I appreciate the things you say about making the effort to create friendships and connections in another country. In order for that to happen you have to be vulnerable, which can feel uncomfortable to a lot of people. But nobody ever grew or flourished without vulnerability! It's really important! Best wishes to you both!

clearly you will be fine. you are with your partner and you speak Spanish. I felt like you described when I came to Mexico from Canada 18 months ago. totally alone, didnt know anyone and could barely speak any Spanish. I cried after about 2 weeks because I felt so alone. but now I love it. I love being anonymous.

Thanks Karen, great video. I'm a shy person and don't want that to hold me back when I move to Mexico this summer. Currently I only have some basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases, so I am going to sign up for your Async class this week. I know that it will help my confidence. ☮️❤️😎

Karen, Great insights. Having confidence to meet new people and "reach out" has a lot to do with knowing the language.

Knowing the language is a huge factor to feel comfortable in a country from my experience I would say. I've met a lot of people who can get by speaking the basics and that's fine too if they found comfortability.

I loved that painting of "La Piñata" by Diego Rivera in the background. Great tips. I totally relate when I went to Canada in an iternational exchange from my university. I was so shy and felt so lonely. I waited for someone else to come over and talk to me but that rarely happened. So yeah, you gotta be open and get out there! That's the only way, throw yourself to the adventure.

You're a good observer with the painting in the background. I think it's always difficult when someone goes abroad for the first time. I was super shy the first time but I knew I needed to change that!. Thanks for watching

It is not easy in any country to just meet people and be friends. That takes as you know time and trust. If you have a job at that new country and keep see the same people that is when it get better.

@@LaKarencitaMX Great videos, Karencita. Especially the last three minutes! :-) One of my own greatest concerns (because it's already been "a lifelong, habit") is "introversion," and self-isolation. When this is one's "default, coping mechanism..." also having "culture shock, to a language barrier..." leads one to conclude that residing in (or near an easily, accessible) "expat community," therefore becomes paramount for those of us who do NOT "get our energy" (and 'sense' of 'being,' in the world) mostly from interactions with and amongst, "others," and many "new experience" stimulations. (This also of course has a LOT to do with past "traumatic" experiences, for people, in general. (i.e. Those of us who have CPTSD... which lends towards "introversion," for e.g.)
