No joke, this is some of the most straight forward and easy to understand golf training on KZbin. Explains the concept, shows the mistakes most people make, and then gives a drill to practice. Keep it up. I’m a new subscriber and will like these videos as they come out. Really solid stuff.

Bro.... You can't come out with a potential game changing move on Valentines day here in the USA. Now I want to cancel dinner with my gal and goto the simulator .....lmao Ive been struggling with the hips in the rotation and going bananas trying to figure it out. Ive also taking lesson's and no institutor has ever describes the hip turn like this.... Awesome

Haha my apologies Frank! Glad you liked the video!

Very refreshing to listen to your masterful way of explaining the proper way to rotate one's pelvis in the downswing. Thank you!

Single handedly fixed my swing. I’m not sure how I didn’t know to do this before.

This has potential to be huge for me. The thought of my right hip staying back at the top of the backswing and the left hip going deeper help so much with my early extension. This will hopefully get me to that ball-first contact. Your channel has made the game fun again!

This was it for me.... after almost a year of trying to rotate properly. Eureka move is a very good description.

I just love your videos Coach..... You do tend to explain in plain language to help me understand the swing logic.. Thank you so much, and this has been very informative point my previous coached has never mentioned.... I will work on this and report back to you by summer..... Thanks again.

The down and around move is critical to start downswing and is best accomplished by externally rotating the left knee

Dear Jonathon, yes, I never heard this. it looks like a very good motion. it helps also by shallowing, I think. I ´am a body player. I understand also, if the left hip goes deep, the left leg must stretch early to continue the deep left hip. Thank you very much, Erich from Vienna

What would be helpful is how does this tilt change in driver swing and most importantly in shot pitch shots. Great information. Thankyou.

LISTEN UP YA'LL! This is THE MOVE that cured my pulled shots and added 15 yds to my irons.
@jasonkelley6185 Жыл бұрын
Huh. I have never heard this before. It feels pretty good just trying the movement out in my office. I'll have to give it a shot on the mat. I'm pretty sure my hips are generally level as I start to rotate. I'll have to get an alignment stick in there and bust out the camera. Thanks.

Great video, thanks J, I've been extending too early with irons recently and it makes sense now why I was struggling on my last couple of range sessions. But what about fairway Woods and driver?

Should the down move be considered the hip bump while keeping the left knee flexed? When should the left hip begin rotating out of the way? Thank You
@everetturech799 Жыл бұрын
Should the lead side hip be down the entire time during downswing and into impact? Is there not a time when the golfer presses down into the ground with the lead leg to extend the lead side through impact? I understand if this extension takes place too early, the swing will be hindered, but do not many instructors teach that the low point of the hands in the downswing is at the trail leg and the hands are rising upward so parametric acceleration will provide more clubhead speed and a flatter sweet spot during impact? I see you mention the extension, but I had always thought the extension begins slightly before impact.

How is your spine angle when you do this drill??
@momentum_golf Жыл бұрын
Justin Thomas and Rory create double their body weight in vertical force (that’s up) from the top of their swings to lead arm parallel to the ground. That’s in about 0.15 of a second. Are they doing what you’re suggesting is the correct movement ?
@jchowngolf Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Plenty of video out there showing it, especially JT. There’s an awesome behind view shot of JT showcasing his great use of keeping the lead side lower

..thank you Jonathon, brilliant and simple, I’ll be putting this in next time around, makes total sense. This will probably fix my worst tendency which is swaying and bumping the hips. Need another 18hole fix asap, gettin the shakes again already doh

Where’s the pressure in the down part? Ball of the foot on the lead leg?
@paulengebretson6597 Жыл бұрын
Okay, while most of your videos make perfect sense to me this one seems somewhat incongruous. I feel like my left hip should be moving up and out of the way, so is the tilt towards the ball just until the pressure has shifted? Thanks
@jchowngolf Жыл бұрын
Left hip moving up will be bad news, especially for the lower back

This throws the arms out and over. It’s great advice but you need another video on how to remedy the right shoulder wanting to work over.
@jchowngolf Жыл бұрын
It certainly doesn’t. I explain it looks over the top without a golf ball as a practice swing, but with a ball the hand path will always have a down portion along with the out as the ball is on the ground. If you’re swinging over the top doing this even with the ball, that’s a separate swing issue.
