Just to correct a few things. While most pubs close at 11pm, many stay open later if demand is there, such as at weekends. Often 2 or 3am. Clubs will be open even later. Days in June are very long, sunset at 9:50pm. Remember there is more to England to London, and respect queues.

We love small talk, maybe in London they don't as they're always in a rush but out of London people are very friendly and chatty. If you want to get us Brits talking just comment on the weather! We'll have plenty to say then! 😊

Tip 20% but only when dining in. You don’t have to in cheap cafes but do it if you like them. We eat lunch from 12-4 and dinner 6-9pm. And we have plenty of clubs, usually open until 4am.

The ones about not queue jumping and standing on the right side of the escalator are big don'ts here. Small talk is polite OUTSIDE of the main cities. Just a couple more 1. On dining etiquette - don't ask for a doggy bag and use both your knife and fork together 2. don't be offended by the banter, we love to take the piss, all in good fun

Love the footage on this! Your videos just are so good and still has great tips and different to your other videos. In terms of driving as an Aussie the left is normal but what was shocking is DON'T fail to look up the road signs in advance. My sister did and then we were so confused on the speed limit the first day as they have a diagonal line to signify the speed on certain roads. Also it is very strange that they drive on the left but stand on the right on escalators. And finally don't fail to get out of the cities - some of the best places I have slept are the castles.

Hungry Passport yes it is the part of the charm of travelling but researching in advance helps to make the best of a location's rules and norms. Glad to hear your home is safe and well and getting back to normal. My state of Queensland is fine - for the most part life is normal here and no community transmission. Sydney is trying to contain an outbreak and it looks like it won't be until late 2022 or even later that our international borders will open. State borders keep opening & closing so people don't even want to travel within oz. So it will be a while to go but I will just be busy saving and researching so I can make the most of it when it is safe to travel!

I absolutely and totally abbor the practice of complaining that British / English / UK foods are not good, even if only generally-speaking. That habit was started by American GI's during WWII when our countries foods were strictly rationed, as inbound merchant shipping bringing in foods to our shores, were targeted and frequently torpedoed by German submarines. We have, since the post-war rationing was ended, come a long way regarding both our own countries foods and the inclusion of incoming recipes by a variety of worldwide immigrants. Regarding pickpockets, as far as I'm aware, they exist in other main cities around the world too. Just be aware that your belongings will always be tempting to others and not everyone you meet will be honest, though the majority of us _are_.

re hiring a car and driving in UK. i think you should mention that using a mobile phone while driving is strictly forbidden, and you will be fined if caught doing so. you must not hold a mobile phone while the car is moving or while the engine is switched on, so even if stationary in traffic, it is an offence to hold a mobile phone. the police are very hot on this. also on seatbelt use which is compulsory for all occupants and appropriate child seats. children under age 12 or 4' 10" tall must not travel in front seat, unless airbags have been de-activated. frequent checks are made by police on all these, also drink/drugged driving.

You're wrong about the nightlife and about the prices. Most pubs do close at 11pm as you said but the nightclubs are all usually open until around 4am, you definitely don't want to go to a nightclub/bar in London anyway as you'll be bankrupt after paying £11.50 for a vodka & coke which you'll get for £2.50 at most other clubs anywhere else. London is genuinely the most expensive city in England, the big cities here are generally a lot more expensive than any small town but London is by far the most expensive city of them all with it being the capital.
@Kellythistleton

there wrong about a few things but still good effort im guessing the small talk is threw an experience and we as brits are good at picking up vibes of someone not in a good mood 😁 also the bar thing and night clubs tho many have shut down these days and also im still shocked at no roundabout mentions and what the hell is 4pm tea n cakes 🤣🤣🤣
@petercdowney
@petercdowney 2 жыл бұрын
A major reason why London is so expensive is because the UK economy is so heavily centralised in London that demand for both housing and commercial premises is through the roof. The reason why a pint of Guinness often costs more than £5, especially in Central London, is because commercial rents are extremely high.

So many untrue cliches in this video I lost count. British food is great - we don't live off fish and chips. We're also, because of our history, more multi-cultural than most places so have cuisine from everywhere. Don't confuse London with England (and definitely not Scotland or Wales). It's like judging France by a visit to Paris. London is more expensive and not as friendly. As @beanybobs says below we love small talk. We are polite but we're not reserved. It's a stereotype. Some pubs close at 11pm but there are many pubs and clubs open till 2 or 3am or later. The nightlife is great. Go to independent coffee shops, not Starbucks (yuk!). I've done afternoon tea twice in my life for fun - and I'm 55 years old.

you are wrong. this annoys people very much. unless there are few people using the escalors, with lots of empty steps, always stand on the right, and pass on the left. to the australian who wondered why it is reverse of driving on left, i think because most people are right-handed, it enables them to hold on with the stronger hand.
