Yeah so much for a Blues flag next year, we needed a small forward so we dumped Martin for nothing, traded out our best small goal kicker but kept duds like Fantaisa, and will take on a youngster instead. I think the deal for Houston mooted was a HUGE WIN for Collingwood at the other parties expense. Gold Coast have shown an unwanted Luko the door with 2 years at $1million+ left on contract. That should be nowhere near a first round pick! Port should hold Houston to his contract unless a irresistible offer is made. 2 First Rounders then they should talk

It's genuinely wild isn't it - when you break up the trade it was 13,29 for Houston (not burn Alberton Oval down bad, but still well unders), 36/39 cancel each other out, Richards for 39 (probably fair but at the high end of what's fair), Lakoscious for F1 and getting nothing back (grossly unfair given he'd be on the same money as Rozee/Butters in his first 2 years) and somehow had us paying pick 58 for a salary dump that should have had a 2nd rounder coming to us instead. We don't win on a single element of the trade. Basically Gold Coast are getting bent over on all their trades and think it's fine if they bend us over twice as hard to save their skin.

Houston is the best hbf and the best kick in the comp, overall a top 20 player (ranked top 5 in each of the last 2 years by cd). Rioli is a good player, about the 7-10th best hbf in the comp but isnt close to Houston. There is a reason Houston is making AA teams and Rioli isnt in the squad.

Bolton s/be 10 and 25-30 at best. Speed is the first element players lose when they hit 30. Rioli and Bolton have speed as their key defining POD. Pies got an absolute bargain with Houston.

Collingwood either pays what he's actually worth or Collingwood go into next year with the same 9 30+ year Olds, of their best 23 and expect them to improve. This time next year, there will be MASS changes to Collingwoods list. Sidebottom, Pendles, Crisp, Hoskin-Elliott, Elliott, Mason Cox, Jeremy Howe.. all gone next year. Collingwood should be loading up on Future Picks, cos they are going to need them.

I had the same thought process as Kane. When I thought it was Houston for 13, 29, F3, Lukoscious, Richards and Atkins I thought ok, probably the best we can hope for if he's only willing to go to Collingwood or the Blues, but then it turns out we also had to give up for 1st next year it became a hard no. The arrogance of Collingwood to try and make it seem like Lukoscious is part of the deal when we still were supposed to give up our future first for him is staggering. If he's that desperate to go home send him to North who seem the be the only club not trying to rip us off for he can stay which he's said he's happy to do.

Lukosius has nothing to do with the pies. GC want a first rnd pick from Port for both atkins and lukosius. That is all. Port dont need to take GC players, but they want them. They can just take the pies pick 13, 29, 36 and Richards and give Houston and call it a day. GC deal with pies is done and both parties agreed with their end of the bargain. This all lies on ports end now. If Port dont wanna play ball, then maybe the pies shouldnt be so accepting no more about port wearing the prison bars in their derbys as it is technically infringing on trademarks in vfl/afl. Im sure they will like that.

Collingwood is trying to act like the reasonable party here offering picks they don't have and the only way they get them is to fleece Gold Coast and the only way GC will accept it is if they fleece Port. What you are giving up is Noble (worth about pick 25), 29, 36, and Richards (worth about 35-45). So you're essentially offering pick 25,29,35,36 for a guy worth 2x1st round picks (and he's 100% worth that based on the other deals being done). It's a classic case of take a collection of our spuds for your gun player.

Carlton have literally traded, Their Future First, Future Second for the 2025 Draft, Pick 12, Pick 14, a third round Pick, AND Matt Owies. all for West Coasts Pick 3. That is an absurd price, and everyone will say No, they only traded Owies and Pick 12 and 14, BUT to get Pick 14, Carlton gave HAWTHORN their Future 1st and Secound round picks, SO in essence Carlton have trade 3 FIRST round picks, Matt Owies AND second and third round picks! For PICK 3??!! If they don't HIT with Pick 3, THIS will go down as the worst Trade period in Club History.

If Carlton finish 8th, it's Pick 11. The higher they finish the worse the Pick but that's the judgement of a Football Club, to say Carlton will finish top 2 next year, which will make the Pick 17 or 18. I'd take that deal, take the risk, because the eagles will still have Pick 3 in this year's draft. Pick 3 shouldn't be on the table, not for Owies, Baker and Pick 12.

Ok the part Kane doesnt understand about the football industry. If you waste the time of the player managers and the two other clubs, in this case Gold Coast and Collingwood and then you confess 'hey we are not empowered to make this decision we have to go to board', then football managers wont deal with you in future, they'll deal with clubs that can get the deals done. I suspect behind the scenes Port have the same problem as Melbounre. Gary Lyon talked Melbourne out of trading Oliver for 2 top 10ers from Adelaide last year. This year Port will keep a player who wants to leave when they have 3 picks and a player on the table. All it takes is a knee injury and you'll be looking back on this moment in the same way Melbourne are. One final point Kane around pick 3, Carlton previously got Andrew Walker and Mark Murphy, both pick 1.

Bad take, clubs aren't entitled to take any offer that comes across the table when in the trade period especially for a player thats still in contract. Port hold all the keys for this trade and if clubs aren't ready to pony up for what he's worth then the deal falls through.
