Licensed nail tech here! Please do not follow this. 5k-8k rpm if you’re a beginner and go lower if you feel more comfortable. 11k-13k is the level for professional. The max speed of the drill is 30k-35k doesn’t mean you should go that high. You can easily over file the natural nail bed and damage it. It was clearly stated in the textbooks for cosmetology and manicures.

Oh this is for her regular followers, she's stated alot that this is 1. For pros or working at a high level and 2. A Russian manicure methodology which is highly technical and extremely different from other methodologies. The bits are also crafted slightly differently than outside Eastern Europe.

@@Wwydn unfortunately I have to be honest with you, we learned Russian manicure in cosmetology school too. They are basically just the technique to remove more dead skin cells around the cuticle area comparing to regular manicure. I’ll ignore all the risks Russian manicure for now can brings to the table and only argue about the speed of the drill. You can achieve Russian manicure result with low speed and eliminate all the risk of over filling and damage your natural nail beds. Drill bits selling around the world a pretty generic so basically they are the same so i will still stand on my ground saying thay we shouldn’t follow the instructions of the video because it brings more harm than benefits when doing manicure.

These numbers are for professionals who perform Russian Manicures. Russian manicures are not taught in cosmetology schools in the US, not in the detail they are taught overseas and where the technique originated from. Going at low speeds will not only create over heating during removal but also overfiling the nail. These manicures are technical and I do not recommend DIY-ers to go at these speeds let alone use a drill to begin with
@CocoVaniNMNH

@@nailmartusa firstly, I think your claim which is Russian manicures are not taught in cosmetology schools un the US is just wrong. We get to learn theories and the techniques of Russian manicures yet practicing it since Russian manicures are illegal in several states in the US. I understand that maybe the US regulations and policy are not the world standard but as the name of your channel “nail mart usa “, you might probably wanna follow US law and regulations. As I said, I stand my ground, do not follow the video because the higher the speed, the higher the chance of overfilling and damage the nail beds. Motions created heat. The more rpm the more heat created by the drill.

@nailmartusa and to respond further, I was a test dummy (as are all students) in a vocational school that trained hair, nail and massage. I had my nails done frequently and really not much has changed in the realm of how manicures are done in the US since I went to school. With all due respect, getting a unit in Thai massage didn't qualify me to say I had been fully trained in it. To do that, I'd need to get certified by an outside continued schooling. I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to point out the flaws in vocational education outside what we are taught locally. We're led to believe we know everything about everything but we don't, and continued education requirements are there to fill that gap. That's even assuming your state requires you to get them to maintain your license. We don't even have a federally approved education program, which is scary considering infections can cause severe health risks. I've been having problems getting my nails done because I can't fight infections off due to chemo I take for my immune system trying to kill me. The last one took me months to heal from and my nail beds look more like mountain peaks than semicircles. I've felt very fortunate to find this KZbinr because she's taught me how to do it myself and provided safe tools. I think you're trying to come from a good place, but please don't jump in randomly to tell us how unsafe she is when she's a very careful, thoughtful teacher. I would really encourage you to watch her a bit more and open your mind a little. New information doesn't harm us.

This is wild that so many are saying never to use a bit at maxspeed. You most certainly do with ceramic or carbide when removing bulky product. If the grit on your bit is large, the faster you need your efile speed, otherwise it'll catch and roll around the whole finger. Speed, a fulcrum finger, and a light touch is key.

The speeds are all assuming a lighter than light touch. I go about 10k with my cuticle bits but everything else is about the same. Keeping the efile moving and lifting it often to avoid heat and over filing is imperative. You need to apply absolutely zero pressure, like you're tickling your cuticle with a feather. The only time I ring of fire myself is when I'm using an old bit, which in turn makes me apply more pressure and do more passes over the nail. Keep a dust brush handy (like the little kind you grab with your middle fingers) and after every pass, remove the dust so you always have visibity of what's going on.

oil your nails to high hell! russian manicures mimic the look of well oiled nails- it can take a little while for results but well oiled nails with properly maintained cuticles 100% look like a russian mani without the drills. i use jajoba oil 2-3 times throughout the day, but i carry a nail oil pen so i just do it whenever i remember. its a habit you have to learn for sure 😅 but it also makes your nails healthier so! win win!!

Ummmm do not follow this. Professionals will tell you that you should never go past 15K rpm on enhancements and not more than 5k rpm for the natural nail. Just because the drill goes up to 30k rpm does not mean that's what you should be using. Lord have mercy. And it's really not about the bit, it's the nail material you are working on. Enhancement vs natural nail.

I dont think thts right, yes slower on the natural nails 7-11000rpm, personally I only use cuticle bits on natural naturals, otherwise I use a hand file to etch n take the shine off! but when taking bulk away, the higher the better, im from the uk i have mine on between 25,000-27,000, n find less pressure is needed and the end result is better.. The slower you go on extensions, then more than likely you will run into issues! at first I kept things to a slower speed n found i needed to use more pressure when infact we should let the bit glide naturally over our extensions with guidance, pushed by the speed! Not to mention, it's meant to help cut dwn time! I tried both ways, but natural nails slower defo! Although I'm not gonna lie..I have found you feel the heat more as ya need to take extra time on ur nails, due to the speed being so low & especially if you want to do a thorough job with prep. Not everybody is gonna agree on things! we all find our own ways of getting the job done, so as long we are mindful of wht we are doing and we have been trained how to use an efile.. n how to hold one correctly when taking product off the nails..remember each country may differ in how they were trained, as long as you dont cause injurys to the clients nails/skin or to yourself then do you..why change sumthing tht ain't broken? Wht just coz of ppls different opinions, due their training or experiences, as long as you follow the basic guidance/training you received and are licensed in using a efile, &/or nail extensions, then just do you and ignore ppls comments, because really unless they have physically sat dwn with you and had their nails done..they can't say shit, always seems/sounds different via videos or writings..the experience is in having it physically done n shown to you..not digitally..tht said we are all entitled to our opinions..but really nothing makes my opinion better/superior than the next person's..

Question: I have rheumatoid arthritis and a bunch of other health BS that equates to extremely sensitive skin. If I do anything to the skin around my cuticles, it swells up like crazy. Are there are kinds of cream or gentle buffers that could keep my fingertips soft but not swollen?
@kkilljoy3588
@kkilljoy3588 3 ай бұрын
Hi! I’m not the content creator obviously, I’m just a random lady. BUT I have a number of autoimmune conditions. I get insane skin inflammation if you so much as bump into me at certain times of the month (50% of the month basically) which makes living life nearly impossible and I’m sure you can relate. It seems like it’s largely plasma-like fluid build up in the area of the “trauma” (the clear fluid that comes to the site of a wound and starts out thin but thickens over time to help build up the see-through part of a scab and is a combo of an important part of clotting and interstitial fluid (the fluid between cells rather than within them) rushing to the site. I’ve developed 2 methods for dealing with these skin issues depending on the details of the situation. One I’ve used for years and one more recent and an accidental discovery (and I think the one you will want to try). The first is hydrocolloid bandages. They are used for blisters or in hospitals post-surgery. Band-aid Blister bandages is a great brand or DynaDerm 2”x2”. Those are primarily for wounds or anything w an opening that the fluid can drain from such as acne or a scrape. Not what you need. Now icing or cooling an area always helps to some degree. keeping your fingertips in ice water would likely help significantly (before and after). But what I found really helps even after inflammation has happened is applying “Liquid MSM Drops.” The “S” is basically for sulfur which is a major anti inflammatory and the liquid MSM is absorbed through the skin exceedingly well. I don’t understand all of the biochemistry here - I have a background in animal medicine so I understand some of it but I really did stumble on this by accident when I had massively inflamed area of skin nothing was helping and wondered what would happen. And it was the first and only thing I found that worked! And it worked for me well and quickly! I hope it does the same for you. Another thought: are you 100% sure it’s the mechanical action to the cuticle area and NOT the soap or oil/cream contacting your cuticles after being abraded/irritated that is causing the problems? Watch VERY closely WHEN EXACTLY the inflammation starts. Many MANY soaps and oils and lotions irritate us folks w autoimmune conditions. Esp the ones bought in bulk common in salons. I’m personally allergic to SLS (in almost every normal soap or thing that lathers), and cetyl/cetyrel/etc alcohol (all the fatty alcohols that are normal and common moisturizing agents perfectly healthy and in everything moisturizing out there - lotions, conditioners). So basically I can’t touch most things ESP if someone just irritated an area of my skin or created micro nicks in it. That’s guaranteed massive reaction. There are skin barriers you can wipe on but that won’t work for a Russian style manicure. Anyway, I hope that helps in some way. I know how difficult this stuff can be, and v often quite painful also. I wish you all the best in the short and long run. I never seem to understand when people message me back bc I’m awful w technology so I tried to be as thorough as possible. But I’ll do my best to keep an eye out for a fellow autoimmune nail girly 😸 (Do you take an oral steroid? Sometimes an extra 50% dose before doing something like getting nails done if you know it’s irritating and only go every 2-3 weeks is the best bet tbh. Or oral steroid plus MSM drops on skin.)

Oh the Liquid MSM Drops I use are brand “Happy Body,” bottle also notes “high potentcy liquid msm” & “15%>MSM Solution.” It is a 4oz bottle and has lasted me forever and a day. I got it on Amazon. It is meant to be taken orally but I’ve only used it topically as I sorta needed to micro-target areas more than anything else.

Heat spikes, bad technique
@Emmie1
@Emmie1 3 ай бұрын
You can get burned if drill is going super fast and they press the bit too hard against your nail. Kinda like a rug burn if someone dragged you across the carpet. That's why when I remove gel, I only go up to 20k rpm and use a very light hand.
@lapislazulilaura8306
@lapislazulilaura8306 3 ай бұрын
@Emmie1 The reason for heat spikes isn't speed, it's friction. With a lower speed you typically cause more friction, so it's actually counterproductive to lower the speed to avoid heat spikes. Instead focusing on technique is much more important. Being able to move the bit constantly so you don't end up filing one area for a prolonged time and thereby causing the heat is what it's all about. Same goes for the light hand you mentioned. Light hand - less surface is being attacked at once causing less friction. Pressing on the nail - frictioooooon on 🔥

I think this depends on the strength of the motor as well, speed is just one of the many (mani - hehe) parameters. I'm a DIYer, not a nail tech, so my particular device is weaker, but my experience is similar to the creator. People often think that lower speed = being more careful, and while I generally agree (especially if you don't have any experience), there are occasions when I don't think it's correct. In my humble experience, too low of a speed can do almost as much damage as too high of a speed. Going slow means taking more time, which can sometimes create more heat. I did manage to dry out my skin a few times because of this - I did the manicure and it looked worse off a few days after than a week before. Not only that, but when something takes longer, people's attention strays. So one could think they are being twice as careful with going half the speed, but they end up going at the wrong angle and even applying pressure for half of that time - time they shouldn't have had to be spending on it to begin with. Again, I'm not a nail tech, this is just my uneducated experience, not advice.
