Bestie, I am BEGGING you to try alcohol makers on top of a thick layer of colored pencil 😭 Just do a light toned base layer and shading in colored pencil then go over with the markers. You’ll get all the blending you want and more

oh I've never heard of that! does the wax of the pencils not mess up the marker tips? I've had problems with that before but if it doesn't I'll have to try it. is soft core or hard core pencils better for this?

I’ve heard that the effect is cool, but the wax does clog up the markers and eventually destroys the tips 😭 that’s why I’ve only tried it once

in all honesty, i don't like bienfang because bleeding doesn't matter to me much at all. you can't use both sides of bienfang, so if you put a protector for the rest of your paper, any paper will do.

@@luciacastille Bleeding ruins the longevity of your markers, as the paper absorbs your ink causing your markers to dry out earlier.

Hi so from a marker artist here you need to go over and alternate the Colours a couple times so they Blend hope this helps

Yessss I use my lightest shade underneath everything then layer my shadows and mid tones on top. After that I use the lightest shade to blend everything out even more

There is actually different types of Copic paper, so you probably used the sketch one, they have custom paper, premium bond paper, and lastly thick marker paper. The last one is the one you want, the other two are meant for Manga and illustrations. I've been working with copics for a while hope this helps.😊

I have a tip for blending whit that type of marker!: If you have a white blending marker use it on the same area before going whit the colored once, it will blend a little easier! Love your videos!

You should try the Crescent RENDR sketchbook, it works well with alcohol markers and the paper is “no show thru” so you won’t see it on the other side, letting you use markers on both sides of the paper. It doesn’t work that well with watercolor tho…

There's really a specific technique to it. With copics, I like to put down the lightest shade all over, then go in with the darkest shade for my shadows, then a mid tone above that, then go back with your lightest shade to color over everything again and soften the blend!

Have ever tried it with photo paper or on tiles? It’s something I’ve tried and it’s a really different and fun experience. The those mediums make it so the alcohol markers are permanently reactivated and unless you use ones with high saturation or are fairly dark if you go in with some rubbing alcohol is disappears completely. It can also be fun to use the rubbing alcohol in tandem with the actual markers since it reactivates the colours as well

As an architect we normally use chartpak markers with this paper that I don't know what is called in English, in Spanish is called "albanene", it's kind of translucid and it really let's the colours slide and it doesn't really bleed much, although it takes a while to dry

If bleeding is an issue, i just put cardboard between the pages. Blending is so much more important!

i like canson mixed media paper for markers, but i don't usually blend them anyway. i use marker as a base and shade with colored pencils. and i don't do a lot of traditional work, i prefer digital, so mixed media paper is something that works with most of the things i throw out it without me needing to buy pads of paper for every medium

If you want blended colours and no bleeding onto another page that you would want to use, just put down a piece or two of scrap paper underneath

I’ve used Rendr for years now. It’s so great!! And I don’t understand why there isn’t more hype on them in the market community. I think it’s because sometimes the quality control sometimes isn’t good and some of the paper comes out bad. :\

I’ve been using alcohol markers for years with mixed media paper, but have recently found that smooth Bristol is my favorite to work with. It’s smooth enough that marker ink just barely sits on top for a brief moment, and your marker tips don’t get damaged as easily!

You might want to try using am alcohol blending marker! It helps a lot (this coming from someone who uses alcohol markers as their main medium)

Guys let me tell you. The Ohuhu Marker paper is hands down the best paper I have ever tried. It comes with a plastic sheet to prevent bleeding (though even without it my pages never bleed and I ink until the paper is WET). It blends beautifully, and I have never had it tear, pill, or soak. It dries down super quick, and it’s honestly just my favorite thing in this world.

I wonder why the stone paper loses saturation. Maybe its because air bubbles that get trapped inside, like how they make white candy? But if that's the case shouldn't they pop as the ink dries leading to normal colors?
