Greetings. There is a problem with your thumbnail. The symbol of medicine is the Rod of Asclepius, not the Caduceus. One single snake, not two with wings, which are the symbol of the god Mercury: travel, commerce, and thieves. Just take a look at the WHO logo. ✌

Wow, now I understand how some people make KZbin their full time job. I knew they got paid, but didn't know it was that much. Also I think residents and fellows definitely deserve to be paid more even if they aren't "official" yet. Working those kind of hours and all the stress should be fairly compensated, especially considering the student loan debt most doctors have to take on.

Let's get this straight. 5 years out of med school, dr in training, 58000/year. 60 hrs/week That's not even $20 buck an hour. No wonder you got a side gig making videos. I know you will make more in the future as a fully qualified dr and probably more if you specialize, have your own practice, etc but this isn't fair. You deserve a better wage for the hours you put in. At least a 50% wage increase.
@adamhaikal1735
@adamhaikal1735 2 жыл бұрын
He's actually already specializing, he's a GI fellow so he'll be a GI specialist when he finishes his training (3-4 years). But, it's crazy he's only making 58,000 as that is close to residency salary, which usually increases the longer you're in training for. Unfortunately, this all stems from a lack of funding going to medical education specifically since hospitals won't go beyond the minimal "risk" needed to teach a training doctor.
@Praeses04
@Praeses04 2 жыл бұрын
Depending on ur specialization, residents/fellows often work 80 hrs/week (that is the "work hour limit"). However, it is well known in grueling surgical specialties that everyone under-reports their hours to 80 so that their program doesn't get cited. I remember a neurosurgeon resident worked out his hourly wage and it was like less than minimum wage...

I have no clue how old you are, but it’s an old school mind set. If people talk about how much they make, companies will be held accountable for the wage gaps. Speaking about finances is a pretty new thing on a mass scale. I’m American and we add moral standing to income. So you don’t want to admit you’re poor. Or brag that you’re not. It’s a way to control the masses.

I'm in my 40's for context. Growing up it was drilled in you should never discuss money because is "tacky". The concept is outdated and was created to keep pay disparity within industry and organizations on the DL. Its dumb and it handicaps teens and young adults. Talk about money, ask questions, don't be bashful please. We don't all need to suffer not understanding money and how to best utilize it just because our elders did. I hope we see more transparency in finances. It shouldn't be taboo. I didn't know I was making 28k less than a male peer who I am his direct supervisor because I never wanted to rock the boat. This was a really harsh lesson I learned at the ripe age of 32. A full decade in my field and it never occurred to me to advocate for myself because of the conditioning to not talk money.

That is terrific! Amazing growth. Definitely fortunate how the timing worked out, but that doesn't take away from all the work you did to make those videos in the first place. New KZbinr here. I would love to have some of your charisma and creativity! Keep up the good work.

Thanks great video. I didn’t bother with the shorts when they first came out. You know change and all. But once I started now I’m hooked. I think a lot of people are like me.
