Idk who lied in chat, but in this game shiny Pokémon are 1 in 4000. The older games were 1 in 8000

Before Gen 6, full odds were 1/8192 in gen 5 with the shiny charm which you get for completing the pokedex is 1/4096. As of Gen 6 the base odds became 1/4,096 chance of finding a shiny Pokémon before modifiers like the shiny charm.

"Nobody acts like this" That's the point of Leon's story. You'll see. The only games I would actualy considered bad are the Ultra Sun and Moon games because they ruined the story and especialy characters from the original Sun and Moon. Those games had a truly terrifying villain and then utterly ruined that character by weakening them and changing their motivation and actions. It was atrocious. The originals were so good. Oak isn't in this game but he's assumed to be OK given that he's only around 50. Yeah I'm not kidding. The guy who's presented as a doddering old man isn't old enough to qualify for a senior discount. He's said to be ten years the junior of Sinnoh's professor, Rowan, who's specifically stated to be 60. In battle, pokémon only faint or retreat. They shrink down to small and run away. 1300 money here is more like a hundred and thirty USD. But that's still an awful lot for pocket money. When you twirl around you do Leon's signature Charizard pose! The youthful room in Magnolia's house is Sonia's! And Magnolia probably does the least out of all of the professors. I don't get why there's such a hatred for cutscenes in these games. You're playing a JRPG. Being plot heavy is what they're known for. Team Rocket in the games honestly isn't much. They're really only bolstered by the TV series. They wouldn't be popular at all if it wasnt for nostalgia.

@@Alastordadeer well Mr radio demon sir, i would like to proffer my opinion that while SwSh is the bare bones of what could just barely be called fun, but base ScarVi was a MASSIVE improvement, maybe not quite back to where they were in Gen 5 but such a massive step in the right direction that its still better than Gens 6, 7, and 8, and the dlc they added to it, imho, brought it to a tie with Gen 5, sure there's some technical and graphical issues they need to fix but they've improved gameplay so much, ScarVi was absolutely the most fun I've had in Pokemon in years

@@tomasdqwx2781 They aren't all that much different, and they have a lot of things we veterans might be fine with but a lot of newbies struggle with. Random encounters, for example. He didn't seem to like that. And that's before we get to the required grinding most of the older games had. Or how about the nearly mandatory HMs that then can't be removed? Also, Strong disagree with Sw/Sh being "one of the worst pokemon games" as I personally loved it. If we're going to be like that, gen1 is a barely functioning mess, gen 2 have a horrible level curve (and I fucking love gen 2 and its remakes), something HG/SS didn't exactly fix, and do I have to mention the mess that what was (and kind of still is) BD/SP? Again, I like all of those games, but in terms of Pokémon games those are the weakest out of the bunch. If he enjoyed Sw/Sh I could see him enjoy S/V and the 3DS games, but for being new to the Pokémon series, Sw/Sh is honestly a pretty good starting point. Beginner friendly whit nice QoL aditions while keeping the core of the game intact. Better jump on point than Let's Go, that's for sure. It's like Monster Hunter for me. Tons of people there say that newbies should start off with Unite, or the 3 remake, or the switch games, because those are the closest to the old games and thus "the best" but I always recommend World because of how it sticks to the formula while being welcoming and having tons of QoL improvements.
