your videos have been great help. I finally got an explanation on timing from you. ive hear timing talked about but never fully explained so thank you very much. throughout my years of playing I was always told and believed that that but was for looks. I started to reconsider that after being a Becue playing cue after reading what they had to say about their cue design. this video helped me understand more about how a cue in its parts and as whole can affect my play. thank you very much.

I enjoy you videos and I hope you have success telling people what you know, I have spent countless hours trying to explain these concepts to people and have found many get confused easily due to what they are told by their local good shooter even though that person doesn't actually get it either. A great playing cue is a balanced system from end to end.

Im so old school i still play with a maple shaft, not sure if i wanna make that switch at my age to low deflection shaft, my shaft is stiff , with an ebony butt and a hard tip,put together for my kind of stoke which is a power stroke, not too good on finesse strokes ,one thing I'll say after playing pool since 79, about sticks is, you need to find the right cue and tip that fits your style of play,to get the most out of your potential, you basically said the same as i did, in another video,,,, " dont change your style, change the cue",,,when you said that, i knew you had ALOT of experience and knowledge of cues, new subscriber here, im listening!😁👍🎱

Interesting information, I tried to apply the concepts you mentioned. Your knowledge in cue making and what you know about the game is appreciated. I like to improve two trouble areas, consistent stroke shooting straight, and be a better breaker. On to my next step, when I first saw your videos, I was not interested in buying a cue, now I’m. What cues you have for us to see?

I really enjoy your talks on the technical aspects of cues. So here’s one that I’ve considered ever since I’ve gotten to enjoying the best snooker players play. They all use a piece cue. I understand their cues and tips have a completely different design for a different game. On the other hand what are the differences between a one piece pool cue vs. a two piece pool cue? Could you design and make a one piece cue for a player that would be better than a two piece cue? I haven’t been able to play/practice for a few months due to cataract surgery, but I definitely will be putting some of your ideas into my practice sessions. Well, I did put one into my practice sessions - the one about breaking the head ball and leaving the cue ball right there while using the speed app. Interestingly the ball comes back and hits the cue ball back into my phone resting on the rail. Lol

Great video and it makes me wonder about how does a full cored vs a non cored effect the ball deflection? and what makes you decide whether you need to make a cue with a full cored or not? and other than warpage and the ability to control weight what other main reasons would you use a full core handle?

I'm experimenting a lot with cues and cue specifications. I love to play lightweight cues about 16 oz. and very small ferrules (10.5 mm). I got less problems with my muscular tonus and my game improved a lot.

Thanks, Chris. This is what I was seeking to learn about deflection. I watched a video on Shane V shooting with a bar cue stick and then a carbon fiber low deflection. You could really see the difference in the same shot he was shooting. I guess I have always played with a bar cue pool my whole life. Hard rock maple. I hear guys say that you need a low deflection cue and with a pro taper if you are going to advance in tournaments. Is this true, Chris? I am currently using a Deluxe McDermott Lucky cue. 19 oz 13mm tip

@@CuemakersGuild What weights do you use on your cue? Years ago I had a chance to meet Buddy Hall and he came over to my Grandfather house to play and meet my Grandpa. I was young teenager at the time. He was showed us his clock system. He also showed me his weight set that he could change his cue's. It is similar to the CUETEC ACUEWEIGHT PERCISION Weight. I have also heard some pros are playing with their extensions on their cue's for the whole match. What are your opinions on these areas, Chris?

@@CuemakersGuild hey Chris, I tried a friend pro taper cue with a 12.5 tip. It was so hard to hit. I kept miscuing. When I hit it right it was good. Maybe I need a Kamui Black Soft Layered Tip. The tip seemed really hard. It seems like a big learning curve. What is your opinion?

Hi I just subbed to your channel after finding this video.. I want to ask a few questions.. So for years I shot with a lower end really basic plain 13 mm or a bit smaller on some of my cues but just typical hard maple shafts nothing special , No layered or pie cut shafts blah blah.. I found that I felt very comfortable with lighter sticks. Around 16 to 17oz but made that way so the balance is proper.. I have tried buying these fancy cues with low deflecting shafts and I could never find any that was around my weight preference but always around 18 to 19oz and sellers always said remove the weights .. This throws off the balance badly and I just tried to get used to it.. Over the years I tried Meucci ,Predator , and then a really nice Jacoby cue with there layered system then cut into pie and glued into a chunk and turned down to a shaft.. Anyway no matter how much I have tried I just feel those low deflection shafts bend too much and are probably reducing the deflection (why im asking you) and like you said I have just played so long that I have gotten used to older standard shafts that I am just missing tons of shots and playing horrible to be honest with low deflecting shafts .. But I can grab that older 16 oz cue with a pretty hard tip (I like my tips almost clicky sounding) and I shoot great with it.. I have heard that these newer carbon fiber shafts are stiffer .. Do you think if I took my good cue and just changed to a stiffer shaft that maybe it might feel closer to a standard wooden shaft but with the benefits of what the carbon fiber shafts offer? OR do you think id end up shooting poorly with it too and hating it just as much? Thanks for any help you have. Oh and also the cue I shoot great with is a imported cue and the over all stick is probably close to two inches longer so maybe the slight longer butt is helping too?
@CuemakersGuild5 ай бұрын
@Jennifer_Prentice thank you for your question. In this case, I do think that transitioning to carbon fiber will help in the long run. You will have a learning curve to deal with, but I do think it will help your situation.
