Hey Chris, many thanks for sharing your valuable experience in adjusting the psi based on weather, elevation, riding style etc. Really helpful and probably I know why I'm always slip on wet pavement after rain (I usually do 90psi front & 95psi rear as I'm a bit worried to get flat, although I'm a lighter rider). Thanks for video. Great thought process. I always keep my inflation as high as possible within specs because of flats. When I first started riding after kid time, I got flats mostly from under inflation/not caring about pumping bike after a couple of days. Thanks for covering the nuances about different situations. I just did a ride to a summit, and had to pump brakes harder/longer than usual because Of speed. Didn’t realize to factor in heat buildup. Thanks again.

I live in Brooklyn, NY, USA. I am a 100 kilo rider who is almost always going for speed. To avoid having pinch flats I like to keep my tires at 100 PSI on my Brompton. Great video.

Hi Evelyn Vega For best comfort and a good ride, in your case I'll use 75-80psi on the back wheel and 65 on the front wheel. If you prefer speed over comfort 90psi on the rear and 75psi on front if you ride in good roads. A great thing to do is try the different Psi possibilities and see what you like most. Keep Safe! Hi William Ferguson I use a Specialized pump that goes up to 180psi. Choose a floor pup that goes up to, or above 150psi and have a good height. Hope to be of some help.

As a rather heavy guy of close to 100 kilos, I also the use 100 Psi, also as it gives less resistance from the small wheels. And using mudguards, I have just got a set of "carbon clips" to hold the titanium struts of my Lightweight Brompton. The originals actually weighs a lot! And I have got an electric small pump for travels.

Hi Crazy Little Bike Girl. I think the Marathon Plus rides faster and much better than the original Brompton tires. But they are a bit heavier than Brompton's tired. I would replace the back tire for a Marathon Plus and use the front original tire for a couple of years. A flat front wheel is easy to fix. Nice to have you on board!

Hi Miguel Gama Congrats for your new Brompton! I use a Specialized floor pump. The important thing is that the floor pump goes up to 150psi or 180psi. This way it will be easy to reach the desired psi in your tires. For the road do NOT buy the Brompton pump. It does not deliver the psi needed for a safety ride. Find a portable pump that goes up to 150psi. I've ben using a West Biking 150psi. Always the maximum psi for me, if it get's below 100 I get a sloppy ride. I'm heavy but to maximize the pressure aids the life span of the tire, get's you the fastest ride and helps to avoid tire levers. The suspension block helps on my broken roads. I need speed coming from racing bikes.

Hi Sandydany Lives Try one day to ride on 110psi on the back and 100psi on front on your road bike if the road is not so flat. There is a study that says that if we have a streamly hard tire on not so perfect roads the tyre loses some traction and speed. See if it works for you Keep Safe! Keep Riding!

@@ChrisbyBike Compared to my Brommie my race bike is plenty fast. The carbon forks do a good job with road buzz. It's absolutely no go below 110/105 psi with the B or I get a soggy ride. I really must do more cycling on my days off, we are in the rainy season but I just put on weight! Kind regards as always.

Hi Sandydany Lives Me too. We are also on the rainy season, and I'm hook to Beach Tennis, so every opportunity I have I choose to play instead of riding with the cycling team. On the beginning I was riding 70 kilometers and playing 5 sets of Beach Tennis on saturdays. It is a fun sport. Nice to have you on board!

🤫 I got a cheap Amazon Pump in the beginning, the ride was uncomfortable. With a Front bag it got it better but always felt slippery at high speed. 😂 later I got a smaller pump ( high quality ) for traveling. I pumped with the old, checked with the new. The psi was way too high … in the 120/130 range. Now riding feels completely different. Moral of the story- don’t buy cheap stuff 😣or u buy twice.

Did I understand you correctly when you said that the Brompton pump will not inflate tires to a mid to high pressure? You said that you could only pump to +/- 45psi (at 4:45). Has anyone else had a serious problem or was it just a defective pump?

Hi Mak Yes, sadly Brompton pump goes up to 65 PSI, if you are strong and patient. They say it is only a emergency pump to get you back home. Now I live mine at home and carry a pump that inflate my tires up to 100psi so I will be able to continue my ride. Keep Safe! Keep Riding!
