what pulang means to me is that i always miss my old self, at the second chorus, i always break down and start to cry. I also miss my friends who i lost over the pandemic because of not seeing eachother a lot. When we met up again at school, they're new personality was sm different, i rarely see them smile, they're also struggling with problems they don't talk to me about. I also had a friend group that had 5 of us including me. We had this group before the pandemic, after we finally got to see eachother again, they all like, just changed. I can see that one of my friends eye, they're eyebags were rlly bad and i knew why. And last one, i miss my father and how my family was. My father was so happy along with my family back then, but now its like, a family slowly starting to break. Over the years, both of my parents started to get stressed bcs of work especially during the pandemic. My dad changed the most bcs of work, my mother always talks about him without him knowing. Pulang somehow gives me a bit of hope, hoping everything will be like how it used to be :)

i have a childhood friend, we know each other since we were 4. we’re so close. as we both grew up, i went to boarding school and we hardly meet by then. sometimes we texted like how’s our day and all. then, we started to fall in love and get together. but things didnt work out at the moment so we broke up. we argued a lot, we went separate ways as we needed time for ourselves and got lot more to focus on, to move forward. end up we’ve lost contact. the moment when this song came out, he surprisingly came back to me after a year that the both of us lost contact. knowing that we both have each other, know each other so well since we were kids. we’re not together tho haha but im grateful that we both got each other’s back, still contact til now. :) pray for us! kot kot ada jodoh mana lah tahu kan hehe sebab we know each other so well. so this song reminds me of him, everytime i heard it bcs its so meaningful to me :) xx

Within 2 consecutive years (2017 and 2018), my school had lost 2 students who were in their senior year (one student per year). It was really heartbreaking and it kinda gives me a bit of anxiety because I'm currently in Form 5, and I could just be next in line. Wallahu a'lam. A classmate of mine lost her brother 2 years ago in a motorcycle accident. If I remember correctly, he passed away somewhere before or after his SPM trials. I couldn't imagine her sorrow when reality hit her, so I could only feel a small portion of her sadness she experienced. It seems that the anguish she felt never left her to this very day. As mentioned before, the following year, another Form 5 student passed away and just like the last boy, he died in a motorcycle accident as well. Though I did not know him very much, I could feel my seniors' pain just as much. I plan on performing Pulang on my high school graduation to commemorate the 2 souls that have left us, as well as every friend or family member that all of batch '02 had lost. Besides all of this, this song makes me question the future a lot. What if one of my family members passed away? What if the ones that I love and care for leave this world one day? What if I had to go? So in conclusion, Pulang to me acts as a love song, a sad song and an 'insaf song' simultaneously. Sorry for the long essay lol.

What pulang means to me is myself. I've lost my self-confidence since this one incidents not-so-long time ago. Whenever i heard pulang, i kept reminding myself to pulang as well 😊
